In times of crisis, the spirit of collaboration becomes a beacon of hope. The recent exchange between the Armenian delegation and Czech officials highlighted the pressing need for effective migration management as Armenia faces an unprecedented influx of displaced families. It’s inspiring to see countries come together to share best practices and strategies aimed at improving the integration services for refugees. By learning from successful Czech initiatives, Armenia is poised to enhance its support systems for those seeking refuge. This mutual learning approach not only addresses immediate challenges but also builds a resilient framework for future migration needs. Have you ever considered how international partnerships can shape more effective responses to humanitarian crises? Let’s keep the conversation going on how we can foster these critical collaborations. https://lnkd.in/gUvrUksy

3/4 🔦 MMD Unpacked: A Closer Look at the Khartoum Process After the JVAP Follow-up and the Rabat Process, in this part three of our MMD Unpacked series we are diving into another pillar of the Migration and Mobility Dialogue (MMD) Support Programme: the Khartoum Process. An essential objective of our Grant Facility is to generate insights, research inputs, and policy recommendations that contribute to the Dialogues’ discussions and priority-setting, so let's explore this regional collaboration platform! 📍 Established in 2014 during the Ministerial Conference in Rome, the EU-Horn of Africa Migration Route Initiative, better known as Khartoum Process, is a regional migration dialogue bringing together countries along the migration route between the Horn of Africa and Europe, and key partners. 🌍 The Khartoum Process serves as a platform for consultation for 40 participating states and key stakeholders, including the European Union (EU), the African Union (AU), and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). It regularly organises meetings at the political and technical level. 💡 Following the Rome Declaration, the dialogue initially focused on tackling human trafficking and smuggling of people. Since then, the dialogue has expanded its scope to address issues related to the five domains of the JVAP (and beyond!) due to the ever-changing nature of migration challenges. ✅ It has established a continuous regional dialogue to enhance cooperation on migration and mobility between countries of origin, transit, and destination, and supports participating states in identifying and implementing concrete projects. Several regional initiatives also contribute to the implementation of the priorities and objectives of the KP, such as the Better Migration Management (BMM) programme and the Regional Operational Centre in support of the Khartoum Process and the AU-Horn of Africa Initiative (ROCK). ⏬ To learn more, check out the Khartoum Process page and its website https://lnkd.in/d9xqibm8! #MMD #migration #mobility #dialogue #development #Africa #Europe #partnership #hornofafrica

How does the Grant Facility fit within the larger migration and mobility governance frameworks existing within Africa and between Africa and the EU? 🌍 Since the 2000s, the #EU and #Africa have been engaging in an extensive and comprehensive #dialogue on migration and mobility, making it a fundamental pillar of their longstanding #partnership. ✅ At the 6th EU-AU Summit in February 2022, the EU and the AU reaffirmed their commitment to improving governance, management and cooperation on #migration and #mobility, both within Africa and between Africa and the EU as part of their Joint Vision for 2030. 🤝 To sustain a stronger and mutually beneficial partnership, it is crucial to establish and foster dialogue with different actors that promote a comprehensive understanding of migration issues. These include regional government institutions, local authorities, #cities and #municipalities as well as non-governmental actors, such as #CSOs, #diaspora organizations, migrant associations, community groups, and #academia as put forward by the AU Migration Policy Framework for Africa and Plan of Action (2018 – 2030). ⬇ Here's a closer look at the key milestones of the EU-Africa partnership on migration and mobility at both the regional and continental levels! #Migration #Mobility #CivilSociety #Africa #EU #Partnership #Cooperation #MMD #Grants #CallForProposals International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) European Commission AfricanUnion Rabat Process Khartoum Process

The EMN Austria National Conference 2024 - Unleashing the potential of Migration Partnerships - reminded me once again today how essential trust, peace and cooperation are for real progress. 🌍🤝These three concepts ran like a common thread through the day's keynotes, panels and discussions! The panels offered insights into the current situation in countries such as Mauritania, Rwanda and Morocco. They shed light on the situation along the refugee routes, the agreements that already exist and those that are currently being negotiated. The discussions on how to answer the many ‘how to’ questions were particularly impressive: How do we collaborate better? How can a sustainable return policy look like? How can we be more present and engaged with people? My conclusion: There is no single solution, we need a range of instruments, legal frameworks and innovative tools. 💡 💬 Communication remains key: the more stakeholders we bring to the table, the greater the chances of real, sustainable results. #EMNAustriaNationalConference2024 #EMN #integration #migration #Trust

Six years after the historic adoption of the Global Compact on #Migration, and two years after the UNGA’s adoption of its first Progress Declaration at the 2022 #IMRF, additional international cooperation is necessary to enhance migration governance. Pleased to participate in the #UNGA meeting to reflect on the achievements made in implementing the #GCM thus far and to acknowledge the challenges that remain. Egypt joined the 34 other GCM Champion countries in outlining our efforts to promote the GCM’s implementation. #Egypt continues to host 10 million migrants and refugees and adopts a policy that upholds their human rights and ensures their access to basic services on equal footing with #Egyptian citizens. This aims to ensure that no one is left behind. We are proud of our cooperation with @UNEgypt on migration governance, especially through the establishment of the Joint Platform for Migrants and Refugees in Egypt in 2021. Yet, more needs to be done, to expand pathways for regular migration, to enhance support to developing countries hosting migrants, to expand further the interlinkage between migration and development and to explore and address the link between sudden-onset and slow-onset natural disasters on migration. Egypt looks forward to the 2026 IMRF to continue its active contribution to international deliberations in this regard.
