The Rhode Island Agriculture and Food Systems Fellowship Program (AFSFP) seeks funding to mentor students in experiential learning opportunities focused on sustainable agriculture, food nutrition, and agricultural policy. Students from URI and CCRI collaborate with faculty on research and extension projects, developing skills in plant science, food safety, policy, and science communication. The program includes hands-on projects, externships, and teaching practicums in local schools, fostering leadership and professional growth. DelVal has received a $2,025,000 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant from the PA Department of Budget to support the construction of a new Poultry Science Center on the main campus in Doylestown, Pa. Governor Shapiro's office announced the grant awards November 2. The new Poultry Science Center will provide modern research laboratories, classrooms, and demonstration spaces designed to foster collaboration between students, faculty and industry experts. The facility will also have the capacity to produce 5,000 birds every 6 to 8 weeks, providing an additional revenue stream to support teaching and learning at DelVal. Read more at delval.edu/news

Tasmania's best soil judges are getting ready to put their skills to the test in an international competition. 🌏 The two teams of University of Tasmania Agricultural Science students will try and dig for victory as they take on Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific’s best at the Moana Oceania Soil Judging Competition in Rotorua in New Zealand, starting on Thursday. 👍 During the competition students will conduct various tests on soil that will examine texture, colour and structure as well as where it’s positioned in order to determine what the soil is suitable for. 🌱 The soil judging competition aims to improve participants understanding of soil. With soil health deteriorating around the world, it is vital to equip the next generation of soil scientists.
