Nästa seminarium i SOAFs seminarieserie kommer att ges den 13 juni kl 12:15-13:00 då Mikaela Lindberg (Software Engineer) och Hannes Uppman (Research Scientist) från Saab kommer att presentera Resource allocation and scheduling for future avionic systems Future avionic systems will be very flexible, highly modular, distributed, and standards compliant. This is required in order to allow frequent updates, to support future AI and data fusion applications, etc. However, to make full use of this flexibility, we need to solve scheduling and resource allocation problems. These problems can be difficult, and are often impossible to solve with standard methods. In this talk we will present a recently started project in which we develop new methods for these problems. The project is a collaboration netween Saab and Linköping University, and is in a pre-study phase. Apart from introducing the project and its context, we will focus on some of the optimization problems that arise. In particular, we will discuss scheduling for time sensitive networking (TSN). This scheduling is key to meeting the performance and quality requirements for distribution of data in the avionics system, and methods for this problem are central in the project. Presentationen ges på engelska. Anslut till seminariet här: https://lnkd.in/d_jWhcSs

Another chance to learn about the work of MaGPIE: Mass Grave Protection, Investigation and Engagement! It will be my first time chairing a seminar so please do (virtually) swing by and we can answer any questions you may have about the work we are undertaking 📚 #MaGPIE #massgraves #humanrights #mapping
The Centre for the Study of Conflict, Emotion and Social Justice is kindly hosting two members of the MaGPIE team Dr Ellie Smith and Diego Renato-Nunez for a Mass Grave Mapping seminar. Wednesday, 20 Nov; 4-5pm (UK time) https://lnkd.in/ehrFej4j Meeting ID: 828 1938 8776 Passcode: M+M^KpM9 Dr Ellie Smith, alongside Professor Melanie Klinkner, recently published MaGMap: Rights-Informed Mass Grave Mapping: Guide & Tools. This research sought to test the now seemingly accepted conventional wisdom that open-source mapping projects concerning human rights abuses may support the pursuit of justice (broadly conceived), we ask what are the rights and wrongs of open-source mass grave mapping? Diego, who is currently engaged in the development of a global mass grave map will share insights into the challenges and lessons learned from conducting this important work.

A very nice invitation: Prof. Martin Fischer, chair of the Potsdam Embodied Cognition Research Group (PECoG), will be speaker in the PINA-Kolloquium on Wednesday, 19th June 2024 from 6pm to 7.30pm CEST, offering his seminar lecture: On the Embodied Nature of Knowledge: From Neurons to Numbers Interdisciplinary investigations of the human mind through the “cognitive sciences” have identified a key role of the body for representing knowledge. After characterizing knowledge at grounded, embodied and situated levels, number knowledge is analysed from this hierarchical perspective. Lateralized cortical processing of coarse vs. fine detail is identified as grounding substrate for the population stereotype “few/left, many/right”, which then contributes to number-related sensory and motor biases at the embodied level. Implications of embodied knowledge for education and rehabilitation are mentioned. Zoom-Link: https://lnkd.in/e28gZSQ9 Meeting-ID: 640 8788 3713 Kenncode: 23469800 Bests!
