It has never been more difficult for a young person to buy a house and to secure stable, meaningful jobs. More than 80% of Youth Foyer residents exit into safe and stable housing, 65% gain secure and decent employment, 40% achieve higher educational outcomes, and 60% are less likely to be involved in the justice system. The federal government has promised to leave no one behind. With housing affordability at record lows, we are asking the government to invest in building an additional 10 Youth Foyers across Australia to provide pathways to independent futures for up to 3,000 young people over the next decade. So, what do I ACTUALLY do…? 🧐🤔 As many of you know, I have recently set up a business in property. My focus is going to be within the supported living arena. Far too many people are currently housed in unsuitable accommodations like hostels or hotels 🙁. In fact, recent statistics show that nearly 12,000 vulnerable adults are living in temporary housing in the UK, with many waiting months—or even years—for a permanent solution 😳. The waiting list for social housing now exceeds 1.2 million households. The need for safe, accessible homes has never been greater. Having grown up in a home where helping others was second nature, this cause is close to my heart 💛 My parents dedicated their lives to charity work 💪🏻, raising awareness both in the UK and abroad. Now, after witnessing firsthand the adjustments they had to make when my Dad lost a leg 😢, I’ve become even more aware of how essential accessible, secure housing is. That’s why I’m committed to working ethically in the property sector, creating long-term solutions that allow vulnerable adults to live with dignity, in a home that supports their needs 😍. Everyone deserves a safe, secure and suitable home 🏠,no matter their physical, emotional or mental limitations. If you’d like to know more or feel there is a collaboration please be in touch 💛

The housing crisis in Canada has reached an alarming level, making affordable housing inaccessible for many. This crisis is not just about property—it’s impacting people's lives by heightening financial stress, exacerbating homelessness, and deepening inequalities. My recent Housing Booklet project is designed to provide single parents with crucial resources and guidance to navigate this challenge, ensuring they have the support they need during these difficult times. #HousingCrisis #AffordableHousing #SingleParents #SocialImpact #Canada

Research by our Professor Morag Treanor recognises that significant numbers of #children are going #hungry every single day. With Scotland incorporating #UNCRC, we encourage all authorities to stop this breach of children’s human rights and prevent #childhunger or family poverty in future. We are delighted that the Aberlour Children's Charity's report has revealed the scale of school meal debt for the first time. We hope that this research will have a direct Impact on others, by increasing the budget that is available to invest in free school meals and creating welcoming community spaces, offering free meals. https://lnkd.in/e5dWp5kr Alastair McAlpine ADR UK (Administrative Data Research UK) United Nations Scottish Care

As part of UK Parliament Week (18 to 24 November), Sandwell Council hosted a series of interactive workshops for young people and schools across Sandwell. We are working with children’s charity the UK Committee for UNICEF UK (UNICEF UK) and local partners towards international recognition as a UNICEF #Child #Friendly #Community. The week-long activities, held as part of the UK Parliament Week celebrations, encouraged young people to learn more about careers in local government and how the council allocates and manages its budget. Young people were encouraged to explore democratic values and share ideas to help build a thriving community in Sandwell. Together with UNICEF UK, we are helping to create a place where children’s rights are respected, where their dreams are supported and where they can grow up with the opportunity to reach their full potential.
