Would you turn down $800 million to be a golf player, to then only play golf anyway? Well The Big Tiger did (that Tiger in the Woods). I say Tiger you should have taken the money and donated most of it to the poor, or maybe helped some of those struggling youth clubs out there (not only to the ones operating and located in the woods). It would have been an honour to them, to say the least. #poems #future #timetravel #past #education #philosophy #mentalhealth #happiness #business #businessinsider #vanguard #blackrock #lifeadvice #motivationalquotes #life #lifestyle #poetrycommunity #lifequotes #philosophy #teachers #learning #litrature #teachingandlearning #children #kids #love #purpose #teaching #teachertraining #poem #poetrycommunity #poetry #poetrylovers #peoplefirst #litrature #teaching #teachers #poem #economy #economics #SaveLivesProject #YouAreNotAlone #parliament #parliamentary #government #governmentrelations #governmentaffairs #politicians #wellness #wellbeing

Has the Nonprofit Sector Lost Its Way? The PGA of America is a nonprofit organization. At $750 per ticket, the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black will have the most expensive get-in price for a golf tournament in recorded history, a 581 percent price increase over the 2019 PGA Championship. And now the PGA of America executive staff will pay U.S. Ryder Cup players a $200,000 "stipend" to play at Bethpage State Park next year on Long Island. Can an organization really be nonprofit if its operations resemble a for-profit business model? Nonprofits are traditionally expected to serve the public good—whether that's through community outreach, education, or support for those in need. The idea is that the funds raised should directly benefit the cause, not just line the pockets of executives or athletes. But with massive ticket prices, exorbitant player salaries, and the commercialization of major sporting events, it’s clear that the line between “nonprofit” and “for-profit” has become increasingly blurry. The PGA of America is not alone. Many organizations in the nonprofit space, especially in sports, entertainment, energy, and even healthcare, are focusing more on revenue generation than on their original mission. When is a Nonprofit Not a Nonprofit? Excessive Ticket Pricing: Charging the public hundreds of dollars to attend an event that is supposed to serve as an inclusive community experience is a red flag. Sky-High Salaries for Players and Executives: Paying athletes millions of dollars (while calling yourself a nonprofit) raises questions about where the actual money is going and if it’s truly benefiting the public. Unclear Mission: The growing focus on generating revenue and commercializing events often leaves the original social mission of nonprofits unclear or sidelined. It's crucial that we, as consumers and donors, hold nonprofits accountable for staying true to their purpose. Transparency, fair pricing, and ethical management of funds are essential for any organization claiming to serve the public good. Let’s start asking the tough questions. Are these organizations truly serving the people, or have they become just another arm of a larger commercial empire? #NonprofitAccountability #Transparency #Nonprofit #PublicTrust #PGA #Charity

💫 At Net Impact San Francisco, we strive to make a positive impact with every event we hold. Whether it’s selecting purpose-driven companies or social enterprises as venues or choosing the tools we use to manage our gatherings, every decision reflects our mission to drive meaningful change. 💡 One way we do this is by using Humanitix (https://lnkd.in/gendU3va) as our event management platform of choice. Humanitix is more than just a ticketing system—it’s a social enterprise that donates 100% of its booking fees to fund education programs for disadvantaged children. 🖐 Note: you won't find any affiliate links or promotions here, I wanted to discuss this because I think its important for mission-driven organizations to be intentional about how they use their assets and influence. 📣 Are you part of a Social Impact professional organization? I'd love to hear your insights on ensuring we continue to make a positive impact as we cultivate our communities. Share your tips and let's keep the conversation going!

To Friends LuHi Lacrosse, Let’s “finish the job”! Those familiar with LuHi know it is “us vs the world.” LuHi Girl's Lax was started in 2005 by Parent/Firefighter Scott Maxwell. In three years, the team became competitive and began to make the NYSAIS playoffs. Over the next 5 years, the team became one of the top 5 in NYSAIS and made it to the State Independent School finals in 2013. Coach Max retired in 2015, and the team remained competitive. However, after 2020, the decline became steep. The 2021 squad finished with a 0-12 record, and just 13 girls remained on the roster at year's end. I started coaching the team in the 2021-2022 school year. It was a leap of faith for me and them. We lost our first four games by 60+ goals. It sounded like we won the national championship when we tallied our first goal! We split our next four games, going 2-2 and securing the first win the juniors ever had in a LuHi uniform. Wins are a goal, but not our purpose. We aim to glorify God in all we do, win our lose. The faith the girls had in God and each other propelled them to end the year with four straight victories, including an overtime thriller vs a geographically close rival in the conference semifinals and a win in the conference finals vs a team that had beaten us 22-4 and 20-6 in the regular season. Cinderella got her slipper! We have since reached the NYSAIS quarterfinals three years in a row and have student-athletes committed to playing lacrosse in college. We’re not done! “We seek to finish the job” and need “fuel for the future”. We seek to be among New York State's top programs. We are not well-resourced, hence this plea. Those of you who know me know that I hate asking for money. But as Dr. David Hahn once told me, “You’re not asking for you; you’re asking people to support the ministry...the students you serve…the family in Christ.” We are not well-resourced, hence this plea. We purchase our own uniforms, buses for long-distance travel, and assistance for steadily rising tuition, to name a few. I’m asking you to help fuel the future! I seek to raise $50,000 through donations, clinics, training etc. Below is a link to provide the next-generation LuHi Girl’s lacrosse. One-time tax-deductible gift. https://lnkd.in/e4rkn-TT -Click Designation -Click other -Type Girl’s Lax I am happy to catch up with alum, and answer any questions you may have. denis.scannell@luhi.org 516-567-3241 Yours in Lacrosse Ministry, Denis Scannell Head Girl’s Lacrosse Coach LuHi P.S. If possible, drop me an email or text to let me know you donated.
