I couldn't agree more! I speak from experience when I had a toxic work culture that led to depression, insommnia, anxiety, and a feeling of dread every single day. It didn't just affect my working hours but also my personal life. Are you unsure how to tell if a company will provide the right environment for your mental health? 😕 🧠 Could you look at their employees' tenure on LinkedIn? Are there many people who have been there for a short period? That typically means one of two things, their culture sucks, and people don't like working there or like to hire and fire EG if you don't hit the ground running very quickly, you are likely to be let go. Another great resource is Glassdoor. Employees can leave anonymous reviews of their experiences at a certain company, and they do. Unsurprisingly, not many are positive! LinkedIn Insights: A company LinkedIn page can show you the average tenure at the company. Exxon Mobil must feel the Paris Climate Pact is the lesser of two evils for fossil-based companies. They want rules they can follow, report on, and bank on. As a publicly traded company, they do not want to take chances on being accused of "greenwashing"; they want to participate in a market that has the same rules for everyone. Governments, especially non-democratic governments, can be the biggest polluters in business, as they do not have shareholders to report to. The downside of many rules is that they muddy the water for innovation and change; innovators not only have to be good at technology but also have to be good at reporting, communicating, and verifying what they are doing.

Lots of managers and leaders in general fail to realize that you create a toxic environment determining how you choose to lead. I was once told "A leader is more than someone you work for but someone who actually cares who works for them." Once your employees understand that you dont care about them or they see that your actions and your words are different they will move according. You will notice when your employees are burned out, depressed or just plain over it. Life is more than work and if work is all you do then you should take a look at what you have to offer a company who cares.

Canada's national debt currently stands at approximately 1.5 trillion CAD. In the 2023/24 fiscal year, the federal government allocated $46.5 billion CAD to interest payments on its debt.
