Few researchers and organisations have the expertise, skills, and infrastructure to tackle #AMR and discover new #antibiotics. Long-term funding for #antibiotic development partnerships will help attract young scientists to the field and keep companies in anti-infective drug development. To secure a sustainable future for efforts of this scale, we call on government leaders, the private sector and other stakeholders to invest in the development of antibiotics and AMR research. The AMR Accelerator is an Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) programme integrating nine projects with the shared goal of progressing the development of new antibiotics and building #antimicrobial resistance research capability. Five years in, we reflect on the programme’s value, results and key challenge: ensuring the sustainability of our assets, infrastructures and expertise. #analyticalchemistry news In the quest for more efficient detection methods, a groundbreaking study published in the journal Analyst has introduced a novel enzyme-free immunosorbent assay designed to detect staphylococcal enterotoxin B. This advancement, led by a team of researchers, leverages a unique three-way DNA junction amplifier equipped with an automatic reset function, which could redefine the landscape of pathogen detection and analysis. Unlike traditional enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, ELISAs,, which rely heavily on enzyme reactions and can be costly and time-consuming, this new approach provides a powerful alternative by eliminating the need for enzymes. The core innovation lies in the #DNA junction amplifier, which not only enhances the signal amplification process but also resets itself automatically, ensuring consistent #performance and reliability over multiple uses. This pioneering technique could be a game-changer in clinical and food safety testing. By simplifying the detection process of harmful agents such as staphylococcal enterotoxin B, it enhances both efficiency and accuracy, reducing the risk of false negatives or positives that could lead to significant health consequences. Thanks to this enzyme-free approach, laboratories can streamline operations, saving both time and resources. Additionally, the automatic reset feature ensures continuous operation without the frequent manual intervention often required in existing methods. These benefits could greatly improve the #accuracy of routine testing in laboratories, ultimately leading to faster response times in medical and industrial applications. In summary, this new #method offers a robust and efficient tool for scientists and industries alike, facilitating safer and more reliable testing procedures. Such innovations underscore the critical role of #chemistry in developing practical solutions that directly impact our daily lives, contributing to enhanced public health and safety. #AnalyticalChemistry #PathogenDetection #LabInnovation #PublicHealthSafety, If you want to know more about #analyticalchemistry news, follow me: https://lnkd.in/d29pbjb9

Join us for the next session in our #PermeabilitySeries webinar series! Mucus does more than you think! It’s not just a protective layer but a dynamic environment where bacteria thrive and interact with our native metabolism. These interactions can significantly influence the permeability of our epithelial barriers. Natalia Andrea Suárez Vargas, @Bac3gel’s director of Research and Development, will be our presenter. She will present on the world of mucosal barriers and bacterial interactions: "𝗕𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮: 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀" Discover how Bac3gel substrates can modulate these interactions: - Providing bacteria with specific microenvironments - Facilitating or hindering the passage of molecules - Creating denser mucus meshes - Biochemically interacting with molecules at the interface Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your understanding of mucosal permeability and its implications for drug delivery and formulation development. Save the Date: 5th of June at 3pm CEST Register now to secure your spot: Link in the comment #PHABIOC #Bac3gel #Webinar #PermeabilitySeries
