“The absence of conflict is not harmony, it’s apathy.” Thanks for sharing the quote, Bruno. My hot take: When you get people in a room, you will have conflict. It’s unavoidable. But when we pretend it doesn’t exist, or just look past it, sweep it under the run, we tolerate poor outcomes for the benefit of a stress-free present. Conflict provides leaders opportunity to look at multiple facets of a problem, and come up with better solution. Interpersonal conflict not dealt with becomes a source of friction that makes it harder to collaborate.

It is International Day of Peace on 21st September. “Conflict flows from life. Rather than seeing conflict as a threat, we can understand it as providing opportunities to grow and to increase our understanding of ourselves, of others, of our social structures. Conflicts in relationships at all levels are the way life helps us to stop, assess, and take notice. One way to truly know our humanness is to recognise the gift of conflict in our lives." From the Little Book of Conflict Transformation by John Paul Lederach #peace #conflictmanagement #disputeresolution

My latest article, "Concluding Conflict: Why Ending War is Never an Easy Strategy," examines why it is increasingly harder to end the growing number of conflicts the United States finds ourselves part of. The article examines how these impediments do not just occur once a conflict begins but are heavily influenced by actions or in actions left of bang. Central to my argument is the importance of defining objectives early and reassess them continually. https://lnkd.in/erZGNw5r As always I am happy to discuss or debate any points or positions of anything I publicly publish. #stratergy #warandpeace #theoryofvictory #victorydisease
