Two often-neglected aspects of leadership communications: celebration accompanied by imagery that highlights the achievement. Here's what it looks like when done well. Below, you’re looking at the parking area for boat trailers at a large regatta. Those are upturned hulls in the middle of the photo. A leader sent this picture to the team (all volunteer) who had helped guide the boat trailers as the drivers navigated the cramped space to line up side-by-side. Those racing shells are 62 feet long. Every trailer carries several of them, each shell lashed to the tier of a rack. The rowers for those boats have trained for months to earn the right to be in this regatta. With a few words and this photo, the leader thanked their team and showed them what they’d contributed to the event’s success. See the boats in the water? This team helped make it possible for the rowers to do what they’d come there to do. Row.
