It was 841 days since the last time I played a concert. When I’m not working with SpacesEDU helping schools bring competency-based education to life, I’m playing music. Music has always been my companion. It has defined who I am, and the benchmark moments of my life. Ive been playing, writing, and performing in front of audiences since I was 12 years old. But over the last 841 days, I faced the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced as a musician. Moving cities, starting new projects, finding brothers to take to the stage, fights, member changes… you name it I probably did it. But 841 days is also alot of time to reflect. Over 841 days I learned how to be resilient. I learned to not give up, and keep working toward my goals. I learned to adapt. Adapt to change, to the ups and downs, and keep moving forward. I learned to collaborate. After playing in my last project for over 5 years you take for granted how hard it is to gel with people, for one unified creative vision. And most importantly, I re-discovered my love for playing. The nerves before the show, the smiles when we are onstage, the camaraderie of laying it all on the line and I don’t remember having so much fun. Let me ask you. As teachers don’t we want our students to learn these same skills? Don’t we want them to have the opportunity to discover these through passion projects like I did? If you do, let me know and together we can make it happen. See you at a show soon.
Send me your schedule, I am not that far away!!!! Would love to see you play!
Let me know when I can come to Canada and play with you!
