Poll Results: Returning to the Office We asked: How crucial are biophilic design elements like natural light, greenery, and natural materials for the workplace? Here's how you responded: Essential - for wellbeing: 85% Important - positive impact: 15% Neutral - not sure: 0% Not Important - no impact: 0% What These Results Tell Us The overwhelming majority of you (85%) believe that biophilic design elements are essential for wellbeing in the workplace. This strong preference underscores the critical role that natural light, greenery, and natural materials play in enhancing our mental and physical health at work. The remaining 15% also recognise the positive impact of these elements, highlighting their importance even if not deemed absolutely essential. Insights and Implications Enhancing Wellbeing: The results suggest a clear consensus on the importance of incorporating biophilic design to improve wellbeing. Natural elements can reduce stress, increase creativity, and boost overall happiness in the workplace. Productivity and Morale: Given that no respondents viewed biophilic elements as unimportant or neutral, it's evident that these design strategies contribute significantly to employee satisfaction and productivity. Design Strategy: For businesses and organisations, integrating biophilic design should be a key consideration in workspace planning. Whether you're designing a new office, renovating an existing space, or setting up a home office, incorporating elements like natural light, plants, and natural materials can have a profound impact. Thanks for sharing these insights Jo. I think if companies are struggling to get people to return to work, it can give them additional tools in their toolbelt to encourage them. It’s a great way to support a good company culture and make the spaces a place where people want to work, be creative and feel calm.
