Cybersecurity & Technical Operations Leader | Founder PerfectlySuited

Last year at #Afrotech was my first attending the conference. Here is my Honest review... 1) Inspiring: Seeing so many diverse professionals together, all on a mission to grow and level up, was really something. Forget the entertainment for a second—what hit me was packed tech talks and lines of people standing just to learn. The energy in those rooms was different, and it was hard not to walk away feeling motivated. 2) Meaningful Connections: I’ve been to plenty of conferences where career booths are all about swag and “check our website” lines. AfroTech wasn’t that. Even though I wasn’t job hunting, I swung through the Expo Hall and was impressed. Companies had reps from different departments there to have real conversations and help you get past the black hole of online applications. Surface Level But still Valuable: Some talks felt surface-level if you’re more seasoned in tech, but I get they had to speak to a pretty wide audience. Still, there's something for everyone and I still found value, especially in the startup and founder-focused sessions, where I walked away with pages of notes and a head full of new ideas. Overall if you're on the fence I'd say pull the trigger! You never know who you'll meet and I'm not sure there's a better space that exist to find people who you can learn from, relate to, and who will be more excited to meet you.
