If all you are doing is "applying" on #Indeed then your "job search" is about as effective as tossing coins in a wishing well. Are you customizing your resume to each job? Are you getting direct contact information? Are you applying on the company site? Are you networking?
It's easy to just sit idly on your phone tapping "apply" over and over, sometimes not even reading the job posts and then saying "nobody is hiring because nobody is calling me." When was the last time you even read the resume you're applying with?
This job market is hard, but not THAT hard. The missing factor is the effort you put in. Let me show you how...

Don't forget to save the job posting.
And not just the link to it.
Why?
You want to know the details of the role you applied for.
-Employers can close job postings on job boards because they have sufficient applicants or don't want to pay additional fees. A link won't help you if they decide to interview you.
-Companies might repost similar roles in the future. Having the original posting saved allows you to see if your skills and experience are a better fit this time.
Save yourself a potential headache and keep a copy.
P.S. What is your best method for saving job postings?

Our team finds many great posts on transition, and this Shelley Piedmont article represents what we consider a gold mine of transition information.
One thing we want our readers to understand from this article is that when a company posts a position with specific wording for a job or positions, it’s a clever idea to add these to your keywords in your profile.
Sometimes, military members from the Military Transition Roundtable , our non-profit group that supports the www.militrac.org web site, have found that the military terms a job capability one way, while a civilian employer uses another version of the same term.
Charles Swarts, a staffing professional, told us several years ago that if those key terms are listed in a profile not only for the about section but also their experience section it causes the LinkedIn algorithm to key in on those terms. If major employers are using a specific spelling for a term, it’s an innovative idea to use them as part of your LinkedIn key word additions.
Not sure how to make the key word additions to your LinkedIn profile? I'd start with the Coffee Bunker YouTube video that features me in this special segment on this topic. (Note: It's listed below in the comments section.)
