Embarking on a Journey to Santorini, Greece Nestled in the Aegean Sea, Santorini is a jewel of the Greek islands, famed for its breathtaking vistas and rich history. Once known as Strongyle, or "Round," Santorini's unique crescent shape is the result of a cataclysmic volcanic eruption around 3,600 years ago, which shaped its rugged cliffs and iconic caldera. Beyond its stunning scenery, Santorini holds hidden treasures of antiquity. The island is believed by some to be the inspiration behind the myth of Atlantis, the lost city mentioned by Plato. Archaeological sites like Akrotiri offer glimpses into the island's past, with remarkably preserved ruins dating back to the Minoan civilization. What many may not know is that Santorini is home to some of the world's oldest vineyards, where Assyrtiko grapes thrive in the island's volcanic soil. The result is a distinctive wine known for its crisp acidity and mineral notes, offering a taste of Santorini's terroir. As you wander through the island's winding streets and sun-drenched vineyards, you'll uncover layers of history and culture that make Santorini a truly timeless destination. #LeapFlyJets #Santorini #IslandParadise #airtravel #privatejettravel

-》》 🌊 From small-island states to Large-Ocean States. This quick mindset shift was huge when someone mentioned it to be at the United Nations UN Climate Change SB60 in Bonn this June. "The term “Large Ocean States” is used to refer to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to emphasize their extensive maritime zones and the significant role the ocean plays in their economies, cultures, and environments." - International Science Council It has now taken me on a journey to connect more with cultures, communities and individuals who are working and protecting our oceans, the beating heart of our planet. If the Amazon is the lungs, the Ocean is it's heartbeat, than what are you in this ecosystem? #regenbeings

Me and the boys out here guarding moana 🔱 with love & strength from the ocean herself, we channel her energy as true protectors of the high seas, deep sea, island people and coastal waters! Tahitian culture has an incredibly deep ancestry tied to the ocean & all her inhabitants. As navigators, voyagers, knowledge holders, and powerful islanders! The top of the island & bottom of the lagoon are all connected as one living entity. The sacred maarae we stand at created by volcanic rock is in good hands. From the mountain ridge to the colourful reefs, Tahiti stands strong guarded for generations 🪨 #tahiti #ancestors #moana #oceanguardians

90 kilometres northeast of Milan, Italy, on the border with Switzerland, is a small municipality called Val Masino.⛰️ I’m not known for my nimbleness, so I would never have usually come across this area that has become famous internationally for its popularity among free climbers into alpinism and bouldering. That is if it weren’t for a post by Amedeo Cavalleri, in which he tells us of an enormous animal from Lombard folklore called a Gigiat or Gigiàtt. Taking the form of a giant goat, its name meaning “strange thing” in the local dialect, the Gigiat has been described both as benevolent and friendly, and as dangerous and vindictive.🐐 This huge creature caught my attention not only for its mythological history, but also since it is said to act as a guardian of the lands at the base of the Alps, judging those who live in and traverse them: it will act kindly towards those who respect the land, and will punish those who don’t. As Amedeo explains, through a brilliant initiative called “L’occhio del Gigiat” (“The Eye of the Gigiat”) those traversing the land will face an enormous eye affixed to the slopes of the mountain with the phrase “Vi vedo” (“I’m watching you”) – the local authorities have been using this folkloric legend to remind climbers and tourists of the need to respect nature as they enjoy it. Pretty great way to teach people about local traditions and the importance of practising respectful touristic habits, don’t you think? Do you know of any similar legends or stories from where you live?♻️ Grazie ancora a Amedeo Cavalleri e zeroCO2 per i vostri post! #litranslators #sustainability #climatecrisis #environment **This was originally written in English.
