Here’s the proof that anxiety is a nervous system issue, not a mindset issue. Medications designed to alleviate anxiety immediately (Benzos) such as Xanax, Klonopin, or any of the like - the reason they do work so well right away is that they essentially tell your nervous system to “take a nap”. And once your nervous system “takes its nap”, your anxiety drastically reduces or even goes away completely. Your body feels calm, your thoughts calm, everything is calm. Great, right? Well not so fast. That can be really helpful if you’re using it to get through a short-term stressor that’s causing anxiety, but if you’re using it to cope with anxiety in general, it's not so great. Because what happens when it wears off? The anxiety comes back immediately, and sometimes even worse which is called “rebound anxiety”. This is why these medications can be so addicting. It’s continuing to put a band aid on the issue day after day, but never actually healing the wound. The only way to heal the wound is to HEAL your nervous system through a combination of neural + somatic practices as well as learning how to reprogram your subconscious beliefs (which cause your thoughts). COMMENT “NEURO” to get my 5-step guide to learning why you haven’t been able to shake anxiety yet and exactly what you need to do to fix it. 🧠 XO, Kerry ❤️⚡️ . . . . #nervoussystem #nervoussystemhealing #nervoussystemregulation #neurologicalfitness #neurologicalfitnesscoach #neurofit #neurofittrainer #somaticexercises #somatichealing #anxiety #anxietytips #trauma #traumahealing #cbt #mindset #mindsetcoach #anxietytherapy #anxietyrelief #anxietyawareness #anxietysupport #mentalhealthawareness #womensmentalhealth #highperformingwomen #floridatherapist #newyorktherapist #nervoussystemcoach #holisticanxietycoach

Just because you’re high-functioning doesn’t mean you’re not in survival mode. With the amount of stress, trauma and unrealistic pressure & expectations we live with, there’s PLENTY of people living in survival mode. I was living there for two decades and no one would have been able to tell from the outside. Just because you look and act all put together (doesn’t mean you really are). When you go about your day, are you fueled by natural energy, or Adrenaline? Do you feel excited, creative, motivated and at peace? Or do you feel overwhelmed, anxious, flustered, burned out and on edge? Do you feel social and connected? Or do you feel worried or irritated? Do you wake up feeling refreshed? Or groggy and full of dread? Are you able to relax or does that make you feel guilty or useless? If some of the latter possibilities stand out to you, then you may be living in survival mode. If you’re unsure, DM me! Or comment QUIZ to take my free Nervous System quiz and find out that way! This is what happens when you stop trying to fight your anxiety alone and get the right tools to face it with support. For so long, she believed the thoughts running through her mind were her truth: ❌ “I’m not enough.” ❌ “Nothing will ever change.” ❌ “I’ll always feel like this.” These weren’t truths—they were symptoms of a nervous system stuck in survival mode and beliefs that felt impossible to challenge. Together, we rewrote those destructive patterns, step by step. We brought safety back to her nervous system. We made space to face the hard thoughts—without being swallowed by them. We replaced hopeless beliefs with real, grounded possibilities. And now? She’s not hiding in the struggle anymore. She’s living a life she didn’t believe was possible. If you’re ready to stop carrying the weight of your anxiety alone, I’ve got you. 🧠 Did you know your mental state can actually create or worsen the sensation of pain❓ Stress and emotions can play a huge role in how much pain you feel, and how you cope with it. 📚I just explored how the body communicates through pain in this insightful course, Vital Signs: Understanding What The Body Is Telling Us, led by Connie Scanga from UPenn’s School of Nursing. Focusing on somatic, visceral, and neuropathic pain, the course dives into how these different types of pain affect the body and how psychological factors can amplify or influence these experiences. 💡Key Takeaways: ➡️Different types of pain = different origins: Pain isn't one-size-fits-all! Somatic, visceral, and neuropathic pain each come from different sources in the body, and recognizing these distinctions is crucial for proper treatment and care. ➡️Our mind can amplify pain: Psychological states like stress, anxiety, or depression can actually intensify the experience of pain, making it worse than the physical cause alone. 📖Some facts learnt: ☀️Our brain doesn’t just feel pain; it can also magnify it. Anxiety, depression, or even poor sleep can make pain feel worse than it is, showing just how strong the mind-body connection really is. ☀️Long-term pain can actually reshape the brain's neural pathways, making it more sensitive to pain over time. This means that effective pain management isn’t just about treating the body, but also addressing the psychological concerns. ☀️Did you know that even after a limb is amputated, people can still feel pain in the missing body part? This phenomenon, known as phantom limb pain, is caused by the brain's interpretation of signals from nerves that once controlled the limb. Understanding these fascinating aspects of pain helps us see that it’s more than just a physical sensation—it's deeply connected to our mental and emotional states! #Healthcare #VitalSigns #PainManagement #Psychology #Wellness #MentalHealth #UPenn

💡 “Why can’t I just push through this anxiety like I always do?” If you’ve been feeling stuck, here’s the truth: It’s not a matter of willpower. Anxiety isn’t something you can just “power through” because it doesn’t live in your mind—even though you think it does, because dysregulation is what causes your thoughts to constantly spiral. When your nervous system is dysregulated, pushing harder only makes it worse. That tension, exhaustion, and overwhelm you’re feeling? It’s your body asking you to slow down and pay attention. ✨ The key isn’t pushing through—it’s learning to work with your body, not against it. 💬 Want to know what’s really behind your anxiety and exhaustion? Take my free Nervous System Quiz to discover which state your system is stuck in—and how to start feeling better today. You’ve accomplished so much in your life…but you still can’t relax. Even when the to-do list is done (rare, I know), your brain still doesn’t let up. It’s like: “Okay, what’s next? Better find something else to do!” You don’t even know the meaning of telling yourself, “Good job!” or letting yourself slow down for just a minute. Why does it feel so hard to relax? Because your nervous system has been wired to stay in a constant state of urgency. When slowing down feels unsafe, you’ll push yourself to keep going, no matter what you’ve already accomplished. But the truth is, your body needs rest to function at its best—and if you can’t break free from this cycle, burnout is always around the corner. 🌟 Ready to finally learn how to relax without guilt? Your nervous system plays a major role in how you feel and respond to the world around you. But sometimes, it can become dysregulated, and the signs might be subtle. Here are 6 signs that your nervous system might be out of balance: 𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒓 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓-𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: Do you find yourself reacting too strongly or not at all to situations? This could be a sign your system is in overdrive or shutdown mode. 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚: Are lights, sounds, or textures overwhelming you more than usual? Your nervous system may be struggling to process stimuli properly. 𝑭𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒈𝒖𝒆/𝑬𝒙𝒉𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: Feeling constantly drained, even after a full night's rest? Your body might be stuck in a stress response. What does your window of tolerance look like? 😶🌫️ When we talk about a window of tolerance being important when you are healing from chronic illness and trauma, you might think that you’ve already been living within your own window. Because often when you try something new and go outside your comfort zone, symptoms reappear or get worse until you stop the new thing and go back to where you were. But this ‘comfort zone’ and ‘window of tolerance’ are two different things. In fact, your comfort zone might very well be a place of hypoarousal, a place where you can feel fatigued, depressed, and numb. This is a place our body and mind might keep us because it feels safe, even though it isn’t. Because if we’re not here, we might end up in hyperarousal which some of you may know of as ‘tired but wired’ where our thoughts race, we’re anxious and overwhelmed. This is how it can feel when we push outside our comfort zone without the tools and knowledge to do so safely and gently. At Primal Trust we will help you with nervous system regulation tools, brain retraining and somatic work to help you identify and expand your window of tolerance - a place where you can focus without being anxious, where you can deal with stress without retreating from it, and a place where your energy levels begin to come into balance. Life isn’t always perfect and there may be challenges that push you outside of your window, but with the right tools and practices you’ll always be able to find your way back 🧡 #selfhealing #selflove #nervoussystemregulation #selfregulation #selfregulationskills #burnout #psychology_health #mindbodyhealing #nervoussystemhealth #trauma #traumainformed #traumahealingjourney #traumahealing

Here’s why checking your environment is the FIRST thing you should do if you feel anxious‼️ Every single millisecond your Nervous System is scanning your environment to detect signs of safety or threat. If it picks up on a threat, there’s your anxiety! But what do I mean by threat? This is highly personalized! It’s different for every single person. Because we’re not just talking about obvious danger. We’re talking… ⚡️What does everything in my current environment remind me of? ⚡️What in my environment is comforting, relaxing, or irritating AF! ✨Specific sounds ✨Lights ✨Textures ✨People (their face, body language, tone, behavior) ✨Pets ✨Volume ✨TV, screens, etc ✨Colors ✨Aesthetics ✨Clutter! ✨Cleanliness ✨Smells ✨The Christmas Tree that makes you feel safe, warm & fuzzy for three weeks until suddenly it’s January 5th and now it’s a threat because “Omg why haven’t you taken that down yet lazy”, “That’s gonna be so much work and hurt your back”, or “That reminds me of how much fun we had and now that’s over and now I’m sad and empty forever”. You guys get the gist? Paying closer attention to your environment instead of being constantly mystified by your anxiety is a WONDERFUL STARTING POINT on your healing journey. 🫶🏼 XO, Kerry ❤️⚡️ . . . . #nervoussystem #nervoussystemhealing #nervoussystemregulation #neurologicalfitness #neurologicalfitnesscoach #neurofit #neurofittrainer #somaticexercises #somatichealing #anxiety #anxietytips #trauma #traumahealing #cbt #mindset #mindsetcoach #anxietytherapy #anxietyrelief #anxietyawareness #anxietysupport #mentalhealthawareness #womensmentalhealth #highperformingwomen #floridatherapist #newyorktherapist #nervoussystemcoach #holisticanxietycoach

Okay, hear me out... Have you heard people saying that they believe in the idea of "live and let other live" or "let go of people who have hurted us", may be like "forgive and forget" and is this process really that easy? Now the catch is that our bodies and minds have intricate ways of processing experiences, including conflicts, arguments, disagreements or other emotional scars. Even if we consciously forget the details of a conflict, the emotional impact can still be stored in the brain regions or our bodies like central and autonomic nervous system. Let me break it down in three paradigms - Hormonal Response: When we experience stress, the body releases hormones like cortisol and adrenaline as part of the fight-or-flight response. These hormones prepare the body to respond to perceived threats. Even if the memory of the conflict fades, the physiological response to stress can still be stored in the body. Emotional Memory: Emotional memories, particularly those associated with intense or traumatic events, can be stored in various parts of the brain and body. These memories can be triggered by certain cues or reminders, even if we're not consciously aware of them. Somatic Symptoms: Stress and distress from unresolved conflicts can manifest as somatic symptoms, such as muscle tension, headaches, gastrointestinal issues, or fatigue. These physical symptoms may persist even if the conscious memory of the conflict has faded. Hence, while we may consciously forget about past conflicts, the body may still carry the physiological and emotional imprints of those experiences. #therapyworks #mentalhealthservices #mentalhealthsupport #somaticpsychology #bodykeepsthescore #mentalhealthatwork #psychologist #psychologicalwellbeing #mentalhealthadvocacy

Do you ever get overwhelmed with emotions that seem to explode at the wrong times? 😩 When we bottle up anger, it often leaks out onto the people we care about most—partners, kids, family, friends, you name it. We also take anger out on strangers…(exploded while scrolling IG lately?) And you know who else we take trapped anger out on? Ourselves. Trapped anger turned inward = things like depression, chronic pain, impulsivity, self-sabotage, etc… Why? Anger, like any emotion, is energy. If it’s not released, it doesn’t just go away. Your nervous system holds onto every ounce of trapped anger, and without healthy ways to release it, it can sabotage your progress, goals, health, relationships, productivity and self-esteem. Imagine if you could finally release that anger without guilt or shame—and show up as the calm, grounded woman you want to be. 💪✨ In my work, I guide women through proven techniques to safely release stored-up anger and frustration, so it stops spilling out when you least expect it.
