16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence: A Call to Action 📢 As we observe the last day of the 16 days of Activism, the Khomanani Health Research & Wellness Centre urges the world to unite and take a stand against violence toward women and children. This year, let’s go beyond awareness and commit to action: - Look away no more! Report abusers and protect victims—silence only empowers harm. - Challenge cultural practices that perpetuate gender inequalities and call them out. - Support survivors. Share resources and helpful information to assist recovery. - Teach children the values of gender equality and protect them from harmful online content and exposure to violence. - Seek help for harmful behaviours such as alcohol or substance abuse. - Develop policies that address and prevent GBV in workplaces, communities, and sectors. - Organize community dialogues to drive solutions and foster gender equality. This isn’t just a 16-day challenge; it’s a commitment to long-term change. Every action counts, no matter how small. Nyeleti Bicky Mthombeni

Men and Boys as Agents of Change Against Gender-Based Violence👬👬 Gender-based violence remains a global challenge that demands the active participation of all genders to eradicate. While much of the focus has rightly been on empowering women and girls, it is crucial to recognize the transformative role that men and boys can play as allies and advocates for change in our society.👫 Men and boys can be agents of change by: 1️⃣ Challenging biased social norms and recognizing harmful gender stereotypes. 2️⃣ Supporting survivors of GBV and amplifying their voices. 3️⃣ Engaging in advocacy initiatives and campaigns promoting gender equality. 4️⃣ Leading by example and modeling healthy and respectful relationships. Men and boys must step forward—not as bystanders, but as active participants who advocate for safe, equitable, and inclusive societies.🫶🏼 By doing so, they not only support women and girls but also pave the way for a world where everyone can thrive.❤️😇 #EndGBV #GenderEquality #MenAndBoysAsAllies #AgentsOfChange #16DaysofActivism #UNiTE

Everyone is aware of this news .. I wanna just share some ideas so that our society should atleast take action in their own way..I know it is not practically possible for general public to do but atleast each step of our can save many lives in future.Okay, here are some ideas: 1. **Awareness Workshops**: Organize workshops in your community to educate people about consent, gender equality, and the impact of violence. This can help create a more informed society. 2. **Art and Expression**: Encourage local artists to create murals or installations that reflect the issue. Art can be a powerful way to convey messages and keep the conversation going. 3. **Online Petition**: Start an online petition demanding stricter laws or better support systems for victims. This can help mobilize people and show that the issue matters long-term. 4. **Support Groups**: Establish support groups for survivors to share their experiences and find strength in community. This can help in healing and also raise awareness. 5. **Continuous Social Media Campaign**: Create a series of posts that highlight statistics, survivor stories, and ways to help. Regularly updating this can keep the issue in the public eye. Let me know if you want to expand on any of these ideas! Let's join together so that we can at least give justice for the future ones

As a specialist domestic violence organisation committed to gender equality and the empowerment of all women, we recognize the urgent need to address domestic and family violence (DFV) as a critical issue that disproportionately affects women and marginalized communities. Our feminism policy is a cornerstone of our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and equitable society. However, in light of the persistent and evolving nature of DFV, it is imperative that we continuously evaluate and refine our approach to ensure it remains effective and responsive to the needs of those impacted. Our objective is to ensure that Beryl continues to be an accountable service that is based on social justice principles that recognises and fostering cultural diversity. #berylwomeninc #SpecialistDV #DFV #objective

Violence against women is a global human rights crisis affecting individuals, families, and societies. On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we reaffirm: that enough is enough. #NoExcuse UNiTE to End Violence against Women The facts are alarming: ➡️ 1 in 3 women experiences physical or sexual violence in her lifetime. ➡️ Every 11 minutes, a woman or girl is killed by an intimate partner or family member. ➡️ Less than 40% of survivors report incidents, often due to fear, stigma, or lack of support. These are not just statistics—they represent lives impacted by deeply rooted gender inequalities, harmful stereotypes, and power imbalances. Eliminating this injustice requires challenging discriminatory norms and promoting gender equality at all levels. Comment to show your solidarity and let’s keep the conversation going. #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #GenderEqualityNow #StopGBV #OrangeTheWorld #WomenEmpowerment #TogetherWeCan #SayNoToViolence #Socialcause #Unite

Today marks the beginning of the global initiative "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence". This campaign runs from the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Nov. 25) to Human Rights Day (Dec. 10). We annually join this international campaign to raise awareness about gender-based violence and to emphasize the importance of collective efforts for protecting human rights. Since 2021, we have been signatories of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and have embedded them in our daily practices. Intellias has also signed the Declaration for Gender Equality and Prevention of Domestic Violence, developed by UNFPA. We implement policies to promote gender equality, enhance benefits for parents, and organize regular educational initiatives and awareness campaigns. Our IntelliWomen Community provides a safe space for our female professionals to discuss important topics, foster professional and personal growth, and connect. We regularly organize events and invite experts to share their experiences and collaborate with UNFPA to organize events aimed at raising awareness among our colleagues about gender-based violence. #intellias_edi #NoExcuse #OrangeTheWorld #16Days #EndViolence

Empowering Girls for a Safer Future 💪💜 Kudos to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for their continued efforts in addressing gender-based violence, especially in vulnerable regions. This initiative highlights the importance of protecting young girls from violence and ensuring their voices are heard and respected. 🌍💫 As we stand with communities worldwide to #EndViolence, it's essential to recognize that violence against women and girls is not just a local issue but a global crisis that affects public health, mental well-being, and societal development. Collaborative efforts contribute significantly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5: Gender Equality), helping to create safer, more equitable environments for future generations. Let's continue to champion these initiatives and work together to build a world where every girl has the opportunity to thrive, free from violence and fear. 👩🦰💪 #EndViolence #SDG5 #GlobalHealth #GenderEquality #UNFPA

The 16 Days of Activism serves as a powerful reminder of the widespread and persistent violence faced by women and girls around the world, including physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. It also acknowledges that gender-based violence is deeply rooted in inequalities, harmful gender norms, and power imbalances. The campaign mobilizes individuals, communities, and organizations to raise awareness, advocate for policy change, and take action to eliminate violence in all its forms. This year’s theme, "UNITE!" calls for solidarity across nations, communities, and sectors. By uniting efforts, we can amplify our voices and ensure that more resources, support systems, and preventive measures are put in place to protect women and girls. The emphasis on "Invest to Prevent" highlights the importance of finding initiatives that address the root causes of violence, promote gender equality, and support survivors. #16DaysOfActivism #genderbasedviolenceprevention #soschildrensvillagesbotswana #soschildrensvillages
