Pinot Noir is our specialty. Our vines have been lovingly restored to produce outstanding yield and fruit of exceptional quality that is unique to the our vineyard and region in North Canterbury. This wine looks beautiful in the glass. It is deeply coloured for a Pinot Noir and shows its youth with a rim that is bright and fresh. Aromatically, it is a wonderful amalgam of Black Doris plum, ripe black cherries and cool climate herb notes. The new oak component, if it is there, is skillfully woven amongst the fruit highlights. This is a mid-weight wine with lifted fruit and a lovely balance. On the palate, it has a calmness and stillness that highlights the interplay between the fruit characters and the tannins. The tannins are there, but they are so supple and rich that they appear as a dark velvet robe surrounding the plum and cherry fruit core. The wine has great persistence and the youthful fruit and polished tannins give it incredible carry on the palate. This brightness and freshness mean that this wine is immediately appealing. It will, however, age magnificently in the cellar. Those who have the strength and willpower to lock this wine away for a number of years will be rewarded with freshness and brightness complexed by sous bois notes and even greater intensity and length. In summary: adorable now, likely to be more adorable in the future. We have been fortunate to achieve incredible feedback from the wine industry across our selections, our Pinot Noir especially, Revered New Zealand wine critic, Sam Kim from Wine Orbit reviewed our 2019 against his strict criteria. He scored us 5 Stars, this is defined as: "Outstanding quality showing varietal purity and exemplifying regional type" We strive for the best possible results across our selection of wines. #dancingwatervineyard #wine #newzealand #customerexperience #terroir

Its silly season and that means popping corks! Most Australian sparkling wine consists of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, with the most common style a blend of the two. Australian grape growers pick cool-climate Chardonnay fruit early to retain its high acidity levels before it’s too ripe and acidity levels decrease. Some winemakers also make single-variety (100%) sparkling Chardonnays, known as Blanc de Blancs (French for ‘white of whites’). Australian Blanc de Blancs tend to be elegant, savoury, floral and dry, with robust acid. Aged Blanc de Blancs – like all sparkling wines that have spent extended time on lees – can also develop toasty notes. Other winemakers do produce single-variety (100%) sparkling Pinot Noirs, known as Blanc de Noirs (French for ‘white of blacks’, or white wine made from red grapes). 🍷 Would you like my top 90 wine choices? 🍷 I do love my wines. And they are not all expensive either. To me, a great wine is a wine that YOU LOVE. 🫵 It’s not about price at all. Some of my absolute favorite picks are $15 a bottle as a great dinner table wine. I want to share with you my list of wines that I have gathered over the last decade plus. These are my absolute favorites out of who knows how many. 😂 😇 Not in any order either. So here we go! Vina San Pedro 1865 Selected Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Notes and a bit more about this wine! Intense, deep ruby red with purplish tones. This wine demonstrates a strong bouquet, marked by elegant and intense aromas of ripe red fruit like cherries, plums and blueberries, in addition to cassis blended with notes of chocolate, mocha and cedar. Very dense and concentrated, with mature and noticeable tannins. In addition, the wine displays a very good balance between the tannins, acidity and oak. Great wine and it’s priced at around $16.99 depending on where you get it. I highly recommend this wine. I hope you found this helpful in choosing a great wine! DRINK, BE MERRY & GO BE AWESOME!! We all know and love the fact that wines made from the same grape can be vastly different, depending on where the grapes are grown – even if it is only a few hectares away. Jamie Avenell, Wine Trading Director here at Bibendum, shows us the how these two wines from different plots, made with similar winemaking techniques, present completely differently when in the glass. Conte Vistarino are revered winemakers from Oltrepo Pavese, Italy, made famous by becoming the first winegrower in the region to plant French cuttings of Pinot Noir, locally referred to as Pinot Nero. In Vintage & Variations, we uncover how two of these wines compare across different terroirs. Despite the similar winemaking techniques, they present as completely different profiles, as the Tavernetto boasts expressive aromatics which jump out of the glass, while the Pernice has a deeper brooding complexity which makes it destined to be a fantastic food wine. WEEKLY TASTING REPORT: The Mosel’s Magnificent 2023, Plus Dipping Into Margaret River (Part II) When Stuart and James started tasting German wines intensively in the 1980s, Weingut Joh. Jos. Prüm was one of the few star producers for nobly sweet riesling Auslese, and under the direction of Pruem Katharina it has remained at the very top. Back then, wines destined to be marketed through the annual auction of the VDP producers association were always very limited production, and this still applies. There are only a couple of hundred bottles of the perfect Joh. Jos. Prüm Riesling Mosel Graacher Himmelreich Auslese Long Gold Cap (Auction Wine) 2023, which is astonishingly succulent and silky with an almost supernatural freshness and focus. It was at Joh. Jos. Prüm that Stuart realized that one major difference between 2023 and the equally great 2019 vintage is that very top wines like this were made in much larger quantities in 2019. Stuart thinks the brilliant Joh. Jos. Prüm Riesling Mosel Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese 2023, which was generously produced, deserves a special mention. In recent years, wines of the Spatlese category have been out of fashion in many markets. The white peach and white flower aromas and salty minerality tingle on your palate, then flicker at the nearly endless finish. Is the touch of grape sweetness a good reason to dismiss this beauty? Only if you are against sweet wines on principle. You could walk from Joh. Jos. Prüm to the equally imposing Weingut Markus Molitor winery, the reputation of which has been steadily rising since the early 1990s. Although the Molitor wines – often from old vines with the grapes basket-pressed – have a style of their own, there’s nothing revolutionary about their taste. However, Molitor is another producer with many limited-production sweet and dry wines. There's nowhere else in the world, where the traditional method is used to produce a Sparkling wine from Shiraz grapes. It makes Sparkling Shiraz a truly uniquely Australian Wine. 🍷 We used to call it Sparkling Burgundy (until the 90s) and a version of it was first created in 1881 by the Victorian Champagne company, but it was Frenchman called Edmund Mazurken that created the first 100% Shiraz based sparkling a decade later, in South Australia. They say that he tried to source Pinot Noir to make a traditional Burgundian style red sparkling, but this was very scarce at that time and Shiraz was in abundance, so he used that, to create his sparkling red wine. Most Australians had actually never had a French version Sparkling Burgundy, so they were none the wiser anyway. 🍷 Nowadays it has become synonymous with Christmas. The full berry and cherry flavours which is often enhanced through a balanced sweet character which makes it a great match with Christmas dished like baked Ham or Turkey and it will even go well with a chocolate mousse. 🍷 Knappstein Sparkling Shiraz NV 🍷 This Sparkling Shiraz offers ripe fruit, with soft plump tannins, and a dry finish. Concentration of blackberry and plummy fruit is balanced with savoury spice and earthy notes, which is enhanced by a refreshing hit from the bubbles, which provides a soft and luscious mouthfeel and leaves you with a cleansing sensation. 🍷 Region: Clare Valley, South Australia 🍷 Budburst Rating: #excellentwine 93pts 🍷 Knappstein Wines, nestled in the heart of the Clare Valley, South Australia, is a distinguished winery known for its premium, cool-climate wines. Founded in 1969, Knappstein has a long-standing reputation for producing wines that capture the essence of the Clare Valley's unique terroir. The region's distinct combination of rich soils, high altitude, and continental climate provides ideal conditions for growing exceptional Riesling, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Knappstein's commitment to quality begins in the vineyard, where sustainable practices and meticulous attention to detail ensure the production of top-quality fruit. https://lnkd.in/gzGFejvt

🤓🤓🤓 Blending is less common for quality Rosé wines, but there are still a few superb wines made using this method. For example, Travel from the Rhône Valley, France, which blends red and white grape varieties. White Zinfandel from California, which is made by blending a small amount of Red Zinfandel with white wine. In this approach, winemakers blend red and white wines together to achieve the desired colour, flavour and aroma characteristics. #NamaquaWines #RoséWine #WineFacts

What does the year written on a bottle of wine mean? Finding a bottle’s vintage is simple. Look for the year printed on the front. This number tells you when the grapes were harvested and made into wine. Why is it important? It signals a bottle’s quality. Understanding vintages lets you discern the quality of a wine even before trying it, indicating which years had good weather for growing delicious, balanced wines and which years had poor weather that affected the crop. For inexpensive everyday wines, the vintage year indicates their freshness. These wines aren't meant for aging and should be consumed quickly. The more recent the vintage, the fresher the wine. In 2024, look for wines that are no more than 2-3 years old. In some cases, a wine may be labeled as "non-vintage" or "NV," meaning the grapes were harvested from different years. Drop me a yes in the comments below and I’ll bring you more tips to discover and enjoy the world of wines! Cheers!! 🥂 #sonalholland #masterofwine #vintage #wineterms #winelovers #winebottle

Many of us aren’t fortunate enough to have tasted very old wines, but we should age them and try them for a ton of reasons: 1. If stored in perfect conditions, our wine cellar ages well, that means most of the fine wines we own will evolve in taste and aromas over the years. 2. In the case of most #finewines, and particularly top reds (Bordeaux, Burgundy, Piemonte, Tuscany etc…), the wines will gain in value, often making it a sound investment. 3. It’s a time travel machine and links #history, to what the climate, the terroir and the #winemaker were trying to tell us at the time the wine was born. 4. It can be an epiphany moment, a wine our age, a moment of joy shared with friends after having waited for so long. I don’t mean to tell that all wines are good for aging (of course not) but most fine wines have interesting aging processes and secondary flavors coming out, while some are absolutely designed for aging and can become incredibly unique as they unveil certain balances and aromas over time. It’s one of the great misteries of wine, is that we don’t always know how they will evolve inside different recipients. I personally love old wines for the reasons above, and most people miss it because they don’t have access or because too old wines have become too expensive. This is why you should start your cellar now on www.winechain.co, so you can drink aged bottles later, or resell them easily on our secondary marketplace.
