🔎 𝗦𝗬𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 𝗖𝗜𝗥𝗖𝗘'𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 💡 On September 6th, CIRCE - Centro Tecnológico proudly presented at the 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗚𝗣𝗙𝗠) 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺, part of the global Mission Innovation initiative. This initiative aims to catalyse action and investment in #cleanenergy research, development, and demonstration to make #sustainableenergy affordable and accessible for all. 🌟 The GPFM plays a crucial role in uniting governments, corporations, and research institutions to innovate and implement effective clean energy solutions for a net-zero future. 🚀 CIRCE showcased the SYNERGIES project, highlighting its effort towards the establishment of a comprehensive #EnergyDataSpace. Furthermore, two of the tools developed by CIRCE were also presented: #𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 and the 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗿. These tools are aiming to enhance the #resilience of our energy systems and contribute to efficient #resourcemanagement. The past few weeks have been busy, and December looks to be no different as I work behind the scenes, supporting the crucial efforts of the FISC (Foundation Industries Sustainability Consortium) plays. The materials produced by the Foundation Industries, glass, cement, chemicals, paper, ceramics, metals, and polymers are the backbone of all industries. Without them, other sectors and supply chains wouldn't exist. As a #UKmfg community we need to work hard to raise their profile and ensure the sector receives the support and infrastructure needed for greener growth. It's a challenging time for businesses but while the government is developing a long term strategy, it's not yet finalised, so we need to keep pushing forward and raising the profile of #UKmfg and the important role it plays. This month is all about the Foundation Industries as the industrial and academic community comes together in various forums. I am looking forward to using the train to head over to Sheffield on Thursday for a panel discussion at this year's Transforming Foundation Industries Network+ Christmas Conference. Attend meetings in London on December 10th, including catching up with the team at Make UK at Broadway House. Sustainable Mobility in The Gambia - GASOLEN is back! 🔰 Our sustainable mobility project, GASOLEN, is entering its 6th semester, welcoming many new and motivated students from the University of Applied Sciences Esslingen (HSE) and Stuttgart Media University (HdM). We are eager to advance the GASOLEN driving system, aiming to provide an affordable and sustainable mobility solution for the people in The Gambia. As in previous semesters, the project is led by Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Wolfgang Gruel and Prof. Dr. Michael Auerbach, along with our master’s students Patrick Issle, Julian Schwarz, and Maximilian Dillitzer. This semester, our team is divided into four groups. The first group is focused on further developing the motor controller within the GASOLEN driving system to achieve an even more cost-efficient solution. The second group is working on enhancements around the electric generator. The third group is exploring solutions for a battery swap system. Lastly, the fourth group is responsible for all media and PR activities as well as securing additional funding for GASOLEN. In the coming weeks, we will provide further insights into the project and updates on our milestones. UKTram has praised a pioneering initiative supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the transport industry as the project celebrates its successful first year. A collaboration between Coventry University, Connected Places Catapult, the BCIMO (Black Country Innovative Manufacturing Organisation), and a host of other organisations from across the public and private sectors, the Clean Futures programme plans to leverage £8 million to stimulate investment of over £30 million in new products for the transition to Net Zero. It supports SMEs in existing supply chains and those looking to move into new market sectors by providing them with technological and development assistance for their products, as well as business support to ensure market readiness and investment opportunities. Up to £50,000 in funding is also available through the wider West Midlands Innovation Accelerator initiative, and James Hammett, UKTram's Managing Director, is a member of the project’s review board. Shining the spotlight on Swiss Inv by cirkla.ch, one of the funded projects in Cohort 5! 🌟 🔍 “cirkla.ch, the leading organization for reuse in Switzerland, is spearheading efforts to unite stakeholders in developing a standardized, digital approach for inventorying buildings. This crucial project addresses the mounting demand within the construction sector, aiming to bolster the availability of reused materials while streamlining the inventory process. By diversifying material sources, this initiative fosters the widespread incorporation of reused materials into diverse projects throughout Switzerland, promising a sustainable and efficient future for the industry.”  🚀 “During the CBI Booster, we will host workshops engaging stakeholders in reuse, notably those with expertise in inventory development or reuse platforms. Our objective is to compare various inventory lists and establish a unified data structure for inventories. So happy to share one of our many milestones of 2023, that we have had our Science Based Targets validated in line with the 1.5-degree pathway from the Paris Agreement. This is an industry first under SBTi’s new Maritime Guidance, and an important milestone for our company.
