Kiverco’s Innovative Plant for Britaniacrest Recycling Ltd At Kiverco, we recently teamed up with Britaniacrest Recycling Ltd to develop a customised plant designed to maximise material recovery and reduce landfill costs. Britaniacrest wanted an efficient solution to separate and clean C&D waste with a particular focus on cleaning up aggregates for reuse. In addition to the main plant, we’ve integrated a further 0-50mm fines clean up. This extra screening and density separation steps, further refines the materials, producing a higher purity of aggregates. The system we built includes three core components: Magnetic Separation: A high-powered in-line magnet captures ferrous metals, leaving Britaniacrest with high-quality, reusable aggregate and preventing equipment damage in further processing. Spaleck Screen: This flip-flow screen sorts mixed waste by size, ensuring fine particles and larger aggregates are separated with precision. DS150 Density Separator: Using controlled airflow, the DS150 efficiently separates lightweight materials from denser aggregates, producing a clean output for reuse. The second step solution can either be added to an existing plant or purchased as a standalone option, providing flexible solutions for any operation looking to enhance aggregate quality. This innovative system allows Britaniacrest to recover multiple fractions of material, reduce landfill volume and costs, helping them transform waste into valuable resources. Eastman plans thermal battery power for recycling plant... In March this year, Eastman announced the location of its second molecular recycling plant for hard-to-recycle polyester waste is to be located in Longview, Texas. The first plant, in Kingsport, Tennessee, also began initial production in March and is already generating revenue and on target to earn around $75 million for the company in 2024. The company’s next-generation methanolysis technology allows such waste to be broken down into the monomer building blocks for polyester that can be used again without compromising performance in a material-to-material high-yield loop. The Kingsport and Longview plants are aimed at meeting Eastman’s ambitious goals of recycling 125,000 tons of polyester by next year, and double that volume by 2030. Recycling like you’ve never seen it before. In partnership with Heartland Polymers, we set out to test, validate, and demonstrate the blending of post-consumer plastics into asphalts for the Albertan marketplace. This is Applied Research, so you know we had to go big. Across four sites, this project diverted 3.74 tonnes of post-consumer plastic waste from landfills and into the asphalt of real-word, working roads. Alongside our partners, we aim to prove whether or not this application is the future of roadway construction in Alberta. Coastal Recycling becomes Devon's first to turn black bag waste into alternative fuel Independent waste management business Coastal Recycling is set to become the first in Devon to turn waste once destined for landfill or incineration into coal-replacing fuel. Using an innovative biotechnology solution from Advetec Coastal will turn around 5,200 tonnes of the black bag waste it collects each year into Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF). SRF is a highly sought-after fuel that emits 95% less CO2e than coal and is helping some of the world’s most carbon-heavy industries reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. Coastal will take delivery of an Advetec system comprising two aerobic digester units, known as XO22s, at its processing site in Torrington, Northern Devon. The system will operate at full capacity, processing up to 20 tonnes of non-recyclable waste on-site every day and creating 10 tonnes of SRF daily. Investment in this technology will help Coastal offer environmental improvements to its 1,600 customers across Devon. In addition to diverting waste from landfill and turning it into a fossil-fuel replacement, Advetec’s technology also reduces the mass of waste by 50% and the volume by 70%, which means fewer waste collections and rubbish trucks on the roads. According to the latest UN Global E-waste Monitor, there was a record 62 billion kgs of e-waste generated globally in 2022, with an estimated $91 billion worth of metals, including $15 billion of gold.
