'Just' agri-food transitions is a phrase being increasingly spoken about. But, what does 'just' mean and how can we ensure that transitions really are 'just'? Here's a slide from my Harper Adams University welcome lecture (https://lnkd.in/e8qwCMtq). Our definition comes from work done by Auvikki de Boon, which itself built on a number of previous attempts to conceptualise justice. Published in January 2023, Auvikki's work used empirical data from a survey which asked the UK public what a 'just' agri-food transition would look like. NTMs are probably among the most adopted trade policies in the Globe. They are numerous and growing but still very little can be said on their effects on trade. The large heterogeneity we observe for agrifood products flags the importance to dive into their mechanisms and promote empirical analyses to advance our understanding on NTMs. This paper is not conclusive, but rather a starting point for a long-term research agenda. The book analyses how Supply chains globally continue to be affected by unprecedented disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic, environmental impacts linked to climate change, and numerous geopolitical issues. Increasingly, resilient and sustainable supply chain management is a necessary area of research in the field of supply chain management. Contributing to both theoretical and empirical literature on resilient and sustainable supply chain management, Sustainable and Resilient Supply Chain illustrates how theoretical approaches from other fields - like the conservation resource theory and systems theory - can be utilised.
