🌊 Did you know that citizen scientists play a crucial role in marine research? 👩🔬 That's right! Citizen scientists who volunteer to survey beach litter, observe water quality, or biodiversity, all provide critical data that informs science-based, marine conservation efforts and policy decisions at local, national and EU level. 🌿 At LandSeaLot, we are planning to activate citizen science groups towards increasing the observation capacity of the land-sea interface, which can help with enhancing biodiversity, promoting carbon sequestration, or strengthening climate resilience in coastal regions! 🐠 What are you waiting for? Follow us to learn more about upcoming initiatives to train and support citizen scientists! 👉 Now also on X, follow us, link in the comments! #EUgreendeal #Water #Marine #Biodiversity #Research #Community #Volunteer #CitizenScience #WorldOceanrDay #EuropeanResearch #LandSeaInterface #LandSeaLot European Research Executive Agency (REA) TransEurope Marinas SMHI Ifremer

Excellent achievement toward preaching about our marine resources. This applicable brief should highlight how to implement Marine Spatial Planning (MSPs) which is one of the Saudi Vision 2030 goals to achieve in both the Red Sea and the Gulf.

🔔The new Belgian marine spatial plan is under public review. Let your voice be heard! Citizens can comment on the new marine spatial plan until the end of August. The plan states where there is room for which activities in the Belgian North Sea. 👏For the first time, marine reserves have been designated in the new marine spatial plan. The current plan will run until 2026. Luckily, the new one applies for a period of 8 years, until 2034, which will allow more time for nature to restore itself. 🐳The delineation of (strictly) protected marine areas fits within both the European Marine Strategy Framework Directive, the global biodiversity framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity (30% protected natural areas) and the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030 (10% strictly protected natural areas). #4Sea #NorthSea #Marinespatialplan #marinereserve #oceanprotection Image: Misjel Decleer

✴️How do #IndigenousPeoples and #LocalCommunities contribute to Land Restoration? ✅️ Strengthening land management and governance: which should means recognising their own governance ✅️ Learning indigenous and local knowledge: ensuring their transmition must be supported for climate financing ✅️ Supporting landscapes monitoring: ensure they have what needed to monitor recognising the risks
