"How important is it to you to vote in the upcoming election?" Research suggests that posing this question and others like it seem to be effective in increasing voter turnout in elections. (See: https://lnkd.in/gaH5Yeia) Todd Roger's research on voter turnout has also unearthed the fascinating-to-me finding that "I forgot" is the most common reason registered voters cite for not casting their votes on election day. Of course, being registered to vote is a precursor, so consider this your personal reminder to register. And, if you want to ensure that you don't forget, take a moment to put a reminder on your calendar for November 5. https://vote.gov/register [Note: I am posting this message after-hours in my personal capacity and not as a representative of my institution. That being said, I do teach Rogers' research in my "Living with Agency" course because I'm really interested in forgetting and how we might increase our capacity to remember.]
