What is DRAB? Why would I need to know it? DRAB is your primary survey. This survey is what you do when you first find someone unconscious. What does it stand for? D- Danger- make sure that you, the casualty and any bystanders are safe. R- Response- Gently shake the shoulders and ask loudly "Are you alright" A- Airway- turn the casualty onto their back if necessary and open their airway: With your hand on the forehand and fingertips under the chin, gently tilt the head back, lifting the chin to open the airway. B- look, listen and feel for normal breathing for no more than 10 seconds. If they are not breathing call 999 and send for a defibrillator. In more in-depth courses like First Aid at Work, we included C as well. C- circulation- CPR To learn CPR in more depth join one of our courses today!!
