Medicare does NOT cover long-term care. Yes, it will help cover skilled nursing facilities after meeting certain criteria, but after day 100, you are responsible for 100% of the cost. Considering that the average length of stay at a long-term care facility is 3 years, relying on Medicare is risky. #financialplanning #taxplanning #financialadvisors #cfp #ltc #longtermcare

We often get asked if Medicare pays for Nursing Home Care. So let's talk about it ⤵️ In the simplest form, Medicare does not usually cover long-term nursing home costs. However, some plans may fund temporary stays in a skilled nursing facility if someone needs specialized care. As a general rule of thumb, Medicare Part A covers a person for 100 days of acute care in a Skilled Nursing Facility. Days 1-20 the insured pays $0; Days 21-100 the insured pays approx $210 per day for each benefit period; Days 101 and more - the insured person must pay the full cost. Medicare does not cover custodial care for people who need ongoing help with essential activities, such as eating, bathing or dressing, but Medicare Part D will pay for prescription drugs while insured is in a nursing home. Questions? We'd love to chat. #Medicare #NursingHome #HealthInsurance

Many people assume Medicare will cover all their long-term care needs. However, in reality, Medicare only covers a portion of skilled nursing expenses – and for a limited time (if at all). Having a long-term care (LTC) plan in place ensures you’re fully protected and not left with unexpected out-of-pocket costs. Take control of your future today. #LongTermCareAwarenessMonth #LTCAwareness
