How do we account for the #impact potential within our portfolio? Quick answer: #WALYs. WALYs allow for comparison of life satisfaction between affected and non-affected people. To calculate WALYs, a considerable number of individuals were asked to report on their own experienced quality of life and their circumstances. The severity of diseases or environmental impacts were then measured in terms of people's/patients' life satisfaction on a scale from 0 (lowest wellbeing) to 1 (highest wellbeing). May is #NationalWalkingMonth with Living Streets. Walking is a simple and free way to connect with nature and explore your community all while building your stamina and boosting your heart health. This National Walking Month, consider taking twenty minutes out of your day to #TakeToYourFeet and feel the benefit of your daily dose of air and exercise. Could your next meeting be taken outside for twenty minutes to make it a walking meeting instead of sitting? You can even earn rewards from your steps. There are many reward schemes for employers to offer their employees designed to encourage movement, offering rewards such as major retailer vouchers in exchange for logging steps and other physical activity. To discuss how employee benefits can support getting your team moving this month and beyond, talk with a Towergate Health & Protection consultant today. Shout out to ŌURA for always keeping us informed with real data! Their recent blog on alcohol myths was an eye-opener. Personally, I stopped drinking years ago after noticing how it impacted my HRV (heart rate variability), but Myth #6 was really surprising! It’s amazing how the little things we consume can have such a big impact on our health and performance. Which myth stood out to you? https://lnkd.in/ejzDBSbF #HealthData #HRV #Wellness #PerformanceOptimization #Oura

In this session you will learn how employees' eating habits and what they eat can have significant impact on their performance. This can be in employee attendance, productivity, performance, effectiveness, quality of work and retention. Research shows the impact this has in the workplace: 🍉Employers will lose approximately 25% in staff productivity every month due to poor food choices, not to mention the impact on mental health and wellbeing 🍉The burden of ill health through food counts for approximately 10% of UK absence rates from work 🍉The ongoing Cost of Living Crisis is impacting employees significantly. As prices rise, salaries are not keeping up leading to financial stress. Food is not a priority as a financial outgoing. 🍉Poor food choices impacts physical and mental wellbeing 24th Sept | 9.30am - 11am | https://bit.ly/3MR8gQF #UKSPF #Accelerator #SimpliciB East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire) Rebecca Brown

"As the retail industry charity, the Retail Trust is dedicated to improving the health and happiness of people working across our sector. And this is not just important to the retail workers and employers we support every day but for the UK as a whole. Retail employs more people than any other industry outside of the public sector, contributed nearly 5% to the country’s GDP last year, and plays a vital role within local high streets and communities across the country. This makes the health and happiness of the sector’s workforce fundamental both to the UK’s economic resilience and our collective sense of wellbeing. Meanwhile, record levels of people in the UK are currently not working due to long-term sickness, with more than two thirds of incapacity benefit claimants off work for mental health issues. And that’s why, as we all get ready to head to the polls this week, we’re calling on clearer leadership from the country’s next government around the big issues that are currently causing retail staff and their employers so much uncertainty and insecurity." Bluecrest Wellness have partnered with Connaught Care Collection to offer staff free ‘full-body health checks' reinforcing our commitment to their wellbeing. 🤝 We will offer health checks covering heart disease, stroke risk, ECGs, cholesterol levels, diabetes, protein and iron levels to Connaught’s 184 workers. The package will help staff members to monitor their own wellbeing, stay healthy and detect any serious health issues early. They will have access to appointments, laboratory facilities and personalised results reports with 24/7 GP follow-up support. Bluecrest Wellness CEO Dominique Kent said: ‘As someone with personal experience in the care sector, I know how important the role carers play in society really is. Their work can really change lives, and so it’s crucial to help and support carers to be the best they can be. Through this project, we are keen to show supporting and prioritizing the individual wellbeing of staff is the best way to do that. In short: everyone matters, and the more employers invest in staff the more they get back in return.’ #partnership #connaughtcare

Today, Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Perfect Sums demonstrated why they are game-changing companies! They have embarked on a 6-month journey with us to improve their teams' health and wellbeing. When Jack Buffery and I started The RDA System, our goal was to transform corporate wellbeing. We decided that the only way to do this was by helping 1,000,000 people become happier, healthier, and stronger. It is only with companies like these, who understand the importance of going beyond mere box-ticking and truly addressing their teams' personal needs, that we can achieve our goal. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish in the next 6 months! #gamechanger #healthandwellbeing #nomoreboxticking #makingadifference
