🥁Introducing... the #OSS4RenovationCluster: a group of sister projects unite to form a home renovation supergroup to speed up Europe’s Renovation Wave ⚡🏗️    💡The projects, funded by the LIFE and Horizon EU programmes, are joining forces to help support citizens in home renovation. 🏆 "We didn't just want to build a sustainable town hall, we wanted to build the 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 town hall of Flanders!" 🏆 This ambitious quote is from Bart Vandenbroucke, Director of Support, who set the bar - together with the rest of the Stad Roeselare team - quite high when it came to the sustainability in their new building. Our long-term partner EEG GROUP was part of the project and saw a great match between what the city of Roeselare wanted to achieve with their town hall, and how our bGrid technology could facilitate their goals. This was evident from the city's wishes in: 🔄 Adaptability: as the floor plans were made to adjust in size, it was important that the room sensors could manage these changes 🚀 Flexibility: the goal is to use the town hall for many more years to come, meaning a system that could be expanded to adapt to shifting needs in the future was necessary In the video below we furthermore give the floor to the project leader of the city Roeselare; Giovanni Nowé, next to Frederic Maes and Thomas Casier from EEG, to gain some insight into how they have experienced the process along the way. Last word goes to our Sanne Dufrenne, the bGrid project leader, who knows the building inside and out and has been closely involved every step of the way, ensuring the city of Roeselare would be more than content with their brand new town hall. The world-first Yellow Carpet project was unveiled by Urban Ideals over the weekend at Coloured Mindplein in Rotterdam, The Netherlands! The project was spear-headed by Cecilia Dobos and Antonia Sore, sustainable urban architects who came together during the COVID pandemic and saw the need for more infrastructure to promote outdoor health and wellbeing. A unique set of 3D-printed outdoor fitness equipment was unveiled coupled with a 5km walking and running route around the neighbourhood designed to inspire and promote a healthy, active lifestyle. The equipment was crafted locally in Rotterdam from recycled household plastic waste by The New Raw, with design guidance and demonstrations provided by Sportbedrijf Rotterdam. The Yellow Carpet is a project to stimulate outdoor fitness and to make innovative sports facilities accessible to everyone in public spaces. Now with the first installation in place, Urban Ideals are looking to expand to more locations! 🌪️ RE-SKIN’s demo building in Milano was damaged by a tornado last July. This #building belongs to the Comune di Milano and is used by the association Fondazione Progetto Arca that hosts vulnerable people, including those who are on an addiction recovery path. The lives of these residents are already harsh, and coping with extreme #climate events is an extra burden that they should not have to bear. 𝗕𝘂𝘁, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗼? 💧 The roof was damaged, leading to water infiltration in the building; ✅ A waterproof sheath was quickly installed to protect the building interiors from water, and 🏗️ The tenant will oversee the #construction of the roof as similar as possible to the previous one. 🏠 Since May, the installation of the new RE-SKIN roofing will be carried out.
