What do bumble bees and marketing have in common? There are a million similarities I could make, and a few puns, too. But instead I want to share something else. For background, I have a patch of dirt in my backyard that's about a foot wide and runs the length of my garage. Every time she goes out, my dog makes a lap of the perimeter of the yard and insists on walking through that patch of dirt (where grass refused to grow). The result? Constant paw prints everywhere. Sometimes dusty. Sometimes muddy. I wanted to put a patio in that part of the yard, but it's not been in the budget, so the dirt remained dirt. Until this year. I got a few packets of seeds, gave them a toss, and hoped for the best. I figured if flowers grew there, my girl would have to change her path. And it worked! I have a beautiful row of colorful zinnias that have been blooming all summer. And not a paw print in sight. But you know what else? I also have a hummingbird who visits every day. And cute little bumble bees who buzz around the flowers and are mesmerizing to watch. Not only did I solve my problem (in a very cheap way!), I also have enjoyed watching all of the visitors the flowers bring, and have gotten to have bouquets for the house. My point? Sometimes things don't go to plan. What you think is the best solution may not work out. Look for alternatives. Even if the route you go now isn't the long-term solution, it may work for the time being. And that's okay. What you do today can help you get where you want to go. Or it may help you find a turn in the path that's even better. Have you ever had a similar experience? PS - isn't this little bumble so cute? It was quite buzzzzy so I tried not to disturb it 😊

I love this story! We have a row of flowers in front of our sun porch where bees and hummingbirds visit. My husband and cats love watching them! Years ago, I tried to plant more bee balm, but it never came up. Until it did! Two years later! It was the sweetest, most delightful surprise! Your point is so well made. What we "think" we need may not be the only solution. Sometimes, a simple alternative will be of great benefit!

I LOVE to watch bees. And yes, this is true of marketing and other things in life.

What’s great message - always consider alternatives, we often develop blinders as soon as we have some sort of plan. Staying mentally flexible and considering options and then being willing to adjust leads more often than not to great results. And I love that photo!

There are times when plans seemingly go wrong, yet things work out quite well. It's fun to watch bees and birds coming to your backyard. We also frequently get a few wild rabbits. Have great day Lindsey Laughlin.
