I thought after leaving my W2 I'd work less. I was wrong but with 3 surprising twists: 1) On any given day I don't HAVE to work... so by definition if I do it's because I WANT to! 2) Providing housing for people who need it, and helping investors build passive income, is incredibly motivating! 3) I get to design my schedule based on what I consider important, such as: -No meetings in the morning! I love to focus! -Weekday 1:1 dates with my kids! -Long lunch dates with my wife on Fridays--kids in school = no babysitter! Thanks real estate, you rock! #whydoyouinvest #realestate

Good Morning! 8 days after launching a Arc & Bloom Professional Services The question I get asked the most is, "Isn't this a stressful time of your life?" My answer continues to be no. As many of you know, I was laid off and decided to start a business. You may not know, in 2011, my position was eliminated without warning, without a severance, and without a vehicle(Only had a company car). It was a Thursday afternoon and I was told that I was no longer employed by the company I had worked for for 5 years. I was stunned. I felt betrayed. I had a mortgage, and student loans. I sat at home in silence for hours. The next day I created a plan! I needed a car. So, I cashed out my 401K, got a loan from dad, and bought a 2007 Toyota Corolla. I needed income. I created a business framework over the weekend. On Monday, I drove to the state capital created my business, got my EIN online, and went to my bank to open a business account with $100. On Tuesday, I reached out to the same company that laid me off and offered my services as a contractor. On Thursday, I signed a 12 month contract. 2 weeks later, I got one of the biggest checks I had ever seen for work a week a work. That was a stressful time in my life and I didn't fold. I reacted, I got upset, I even yelled and broke things, but I cleared my mind, focused on what was in front of me, created a plan and executed. Today, I am so lucky to be in much better place. I was fortunate enough to be made aware of when my time would come to an end, privileged enough to be given a severance and benefits, and I created a long term plan that I get to execute every day. I love to create a plan, build processes, and execute. All that to say, I am not stressed. I am excited everyday to see what challenges I get to face. I wonder how much the Post Office spends on these bands each year and if they’d ever consider a return service—imagine getting a few free stamps in exchange for sending them back!
