As a proud sponsor of this year’s International Association for Suicide Prevention Pan-America Conference in Minneapolis, #LivingWorks is thrilled to connect with the #SuicidePrevention community for an impactful week! We’re starting strong on Tuesday, the 19th, with LivingWorks’ Glen Bloomstrom facilitating a pre-conference LivingWorks safeTALK workshop. This session offers attendees the vital skills to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide and connect them to essential support. Then on Friday, the 22nd, don’t miss an insightful presentation by LivingWorks’ Executive Vice President of Innovation, Dr. Pete Gutierrez, alongside Dr. Morton Silverman and representing Dr. Sarah Spafford. They’ll dive into “What is known about suicide prevention gatekeeper training and directions for future research,” exploring the future of community training in suicide prevention. Throughout the week, stop by our booth to meet our team and learn about LivingWorks’ gold-standard suicide prevention and intervention programs. We look forward to seeing you at the conference and working together toward a #SaferFromSuicide world!

I'm sharing the recording of this webinar which was hosted by Steve Phillip of The Jordan Legacy CIC yesterday with panellists Jake Mills Mike McCarthy & Tanya Marwaha as it's about the importance of collaboration in #SuicidePrevention; specifically getting the numbers of suicides down towards zero, which is my primary focus every day. Also because if we don't share each other's content, and engage with each other's efforts to reduce the suicide numbers, we can't really claim to be collaborative or champions of collaboration! I have a deep interest in this topic because: 1) of my own #LivedExperience, inc multiple suicide bereavements - my first in 1980; most recently, our family experiencing suicide loss in Aug 2020 - my own crises; supporting colleagues & clients...; 2) I've had a long, successful career in #CommunityEngagement #ParticipativeDemocracy & #TransformationalChange with many of my projects & initiatives having lasting impact due to being founded on collaborative partnerships and involving people in the process - one of 'The 3 Key Dynamics of Change' I cover in my detailed critique of the woefully low ambition National Strategy for England, 2023-2028. 3) I've worked professionally in suicide prevention since 2013: > with, first, the global collaboration 'Breakthrough Ideas for Suicide Prevention'; > a collaborative engagement project with the global #ZeroSuicide community, resulting in a Zero Suicide Transformation Model I published on #WSPD2020; > carrying out the collaborative action research project with Steve Phillip which resulted in our co-authored report 'Moving Towards a Zero Suicide Society'; > establishing the #ZeroSuicideSociety Transformation Programme in 2023, for which I'm 'Chief Facilitator'; now run through Towards Zero Suicide CIC which is 100% dedicated to getting the UK suicide numbers on a downward trend #TowardsZeroSuicide; > rolling out the ZeroSuicideSociety Transformation Programme, first through presentations for #ICBs, Councils. #NHS Trusts & SP Partnerships Oct 2023 to Jan 2024; then through the pioneering #JoinTheDotsTour, 11-23 June, one of the biggest collaborations in the history of suicide prevention in the UK. So I attended the webinar and listened with great interest. There was much to agree with in terms of what we're all trying to achieve, and ways of going about it. Didn't agree with everything of course - and 100% disagree with any suggestion that competition in suicide prevention can be 'a good thing'! - but that's life, that's democracy, that's diversity, that's my right to have my voice heard too, that's equity, that's #CollaborativeLeadership not Followership, that's social justice. And that's clearly one of the biggest challenges for anyone trying to set up a national collaborative network for suicide prevention... ...which I know, from hard experience, is really tough to set up and even tougher to sustain. Good luck with it Steve! https://lnkd.in/eiza5b67

Your focus on suicide prevention is keeping you behind the curve. If you’re ready for innovative, evidence-based solutions, we’re here to help. Embracing meaningful change requires: ✅ Effort ✅ Fresh ideas ✅ Rigorous research ✅ A forward-thinking perspective 🎯 We offer REAL SOLUTIONS. Maintaining the status quo may be easier, especially when financial incentives are at play, but our first responders deserve better. The STATUS QUO is FAILING and costing lives. Here’s the reality: ❌ Free training doesn’t always equate to quality. ❌ The same outdated measures are being used despite failing to yield results. ❌ Tossing out numbers without action does nothing to save lives. ❌ Current intervention strategies are inadequate—just look at the approximately 50,000 suicides annually. Our Suicide Inoculation model is a game-changer—it saves lives! ⛔ While prevention says, “Let’s not let it happen again,” inoculation ensures, “It never happened in the first place.” ⛔ Which approach will you choose? 👈 The time to act is now. Let’s stop the needless loss of life and embrace transformative change. Contact us to learn more and bring this groundbreaking training to your organization! #FATAL10 Dr. Jorey Krawczyn

Every 40 seconds is unbelievable, yet paradoxically not surprising. This statistic comes from the global (reported) deaths by suicide provided by the WHO. Typically reports of this nature are underreported. Even with the official numbers, that's still over 2000 people PER DAY, and over 60,000 per month. I've seen numbers with much lower casualties per day shut down the entire planet, yet this crisis goes largely unspoken. Authentic connection and community response to those in distress, including less time behind screens and more time face-to-face re: socialization, a basic human need grossly neglected in this day, is a great place to start. #suicideawareness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #community #recovery

Today is a really important day to talk about Suicide Prevention. The theme for this year’s World Suicide Day is ‘Changing the Narrative on Suicide’ and we’re all being encouraged to #StartTheConversation. Every conversation - no matter how small - helps raise awareness and encourages the shift towards a culture of greater understanding, openness and support. We know how valuable it is to be able to talk to someone. Our ‘WeCare’ package includes 10 free hours of counselling for every employee. We know that this short-term therapy can be a huge support to help people cope and make sure that no-one feels alone. For everyone in the hospitality industry there are also some great resources, available through Hospitality Action , to help with the specific stresses we face. So let’s all work together to raise awareness - and help to change the narrative around suicide. #WorldSuicideAwarenessDay #StartTheConversation #MentalHealthSupport
