We certified The Ivey's Hotel and they are great example 'how not to do dog friendly'. They barely scraped a C rank, scoring just 11 points out of 52. This is because they price gouge dog owners with unnecessarily steep fees while providing no services, amenities, or facilities for dogs in return, or even allowing them access to the wider hotel, and to make things worse they have a small weight limit meaning only very small dogs are welcome. We use hotels like this as an example of how not all dog friendly hotels are created equally, and how the words 'dog friendly' mean nothing unless they have been properly certified and ranked by an independent third party. We certified the Amerikalinjen Hotel in Oslo, Norway, as dog-friendly. Despite being considered one of the best hotels in the city, they scored a disappointing D rank. This is mainly due to the lack of basic amenities like beds or food and water bowls or any dog-friendly services or facilities. But you can go into their bar and restaurant with your dog, and they do not have any weight limits; we like their canine inclusivity. They have a reasonable canine tax of just 500 NOK / 41 EUR / $50 UDF per stay compared to other hotels, but the lack of basic amenities and services makes it a canine tax.
