We have an important update on Mayfest to share with you. Over the last few months we’ve been doing some big thinking. And we’ve decided not to deliver a Mayfest programme in 2026. This year’s festival was a joy, but in the background we were battling with rapidly rising costs, partners facing economic challenges of their own, and a lower than expected box office. Despite our best efforts, we found ourselves stretched much too thinly. As a result, we’ve decided to not deliver a Mayfest programme in 2026. We haven’t taken this decision lightly. This pause is a strategic choice, a moment to breathe, rethink, and regroup. We need to find new ways to continue creating the extraordinary experiences you have come to love, but we also urgently need your help. Much of the vital work we do outside of Mayfest goes unseen—nurturing artists, hosting transformative residencies, and producing innovative new work. These things are just as crucial as stabilising our immediate financial future. That is why we’re launching a drive to raise £30,000. In all of our time doing this work we’ve never felt like the world needs joyful and thoughtful experiences of togetherness, beauty, reflection and solidarity more. What a week for VIKIN! Attending the #EventProductionShow was exciting for VIKIN. We were able to show our first Demo to many amazing people in the industry and learn about some epic potential partnerships and collaborations! It was wonderful to get together with other industry professionals and great to discover technologies that could take the VIKIN platform to the next level. Feedback on our Demo was incredibly positive, it's clear we’re hitting the common pain points experienced with festival apps. A huge shout out to our Tech team who worked day and night to ensure all of the innovative ideas were ready and working for the show. The two days at the conference allowed us to listen to talks about the future of the event industry, understand more about the main challenges the #EventProfs are facing this year. We truly want to address these issues and we know we can! As one of the main issues for any industry - revenue is something that VIKIN is concentrating on. We want to provide a wealth of revenue generating features into every VIKIN app. Keep your eyes peeled for ROI advice, feature releases and if you want to provide us more insight into your pain points - we are looking for feedback from the whole of the festival industry as well as festivals as launch partners. Revolutionizing Celebrations: Leidens Ontzet 450 If your mayor says no to bringing a superstar like Armin van Buuren to your hometown party, show them how we did for Leidens Ontzet! For the 450th anniversary of Leiden’s liberation, we faced the ultimate challenge: how do you safely host an event for 50,000 people when the biggest square can only hold 12,000? With aiming to give the best experience to all the attendees, yet to guarantee a safe celebration, we had to think BIG.   Here’s what we came up with:  We found a somewhat hidden spot for Armin’s set and streamed his show across 10 locations throughout Leiden and online. With a world-class media team, innovative ideas and wireless connection, we managed to reach such a small latency, that every location still experienced the best drops in real time – at the same time. From the most impressive show moments to drone shots and crowd reactions, our unconventional livestream setup was able to cover every moment uninterrupted. Turning a whole town to a dance floor, definitely requires planning, seamless teamwork and creative thinking, but with a crew like this, nothing is impossible!
