Yes advocacy does matter Sara Dado, LCSW !! The issue of medical surrogacy and power of attorney often comes in to play in our practice of patient advocacy. It causes delays in our abilities to provide services to our Clients, as we are not the decision makers, rather we work alongside the decision maker, as part of their team. We are the quarterback of that team but not the coach. ⭐️Would love to hear some of your experiences when the POA and the Medical Surrogate are unclear or questioned, and how you overcame this obstacle. #patientadvocacy #powerofattorney #medicalsurrogate
Last week, several members of the IL-POLST committee were in Springfield to provide testimony in support of SB2642, which passed unanimously out of the Senate Judiciary Committee. IL-HPCO/POLST advocacy efforts helped to generate 47 witness slips in favor of the bill, which seeks to establish an electronic Advance Directive Registry. Thank you to Senator Julie Morrison of Deerfield for being the chief sponsor of this legislation!
