Just published in The National News: My conversation with Robert D. Kaplan, the renowned American author and foreign policy expert, on the Middle East's delicate balance of power and the region's future prospects. We discussed the intricacies of geopolitics, the world's split between a globalised/civilised block and a reactionary block that is resisting cosmopolitanism, as well as the precarious path the region has to tread to not undo decades of progress. Kaplan, whose latest book "The Loom of Time" offers a thought-provoking exploration of the intersection of history, culture, and politics, shares his unique insights on the region's complexities and his invaluable memories of a region which has undergone significant changes, both good and bad, since the 1970s and 80s.
