ＪＯＢ　ＦＡＩＲ　２０２４ 💊 Today, Farmaceutická fakulta Masarykovy univerzity with Pharmaceutical Students´Union brought employers, recruiters and student together to one place and that is Job Fair 2024. Pontential employees a.k.a. us students are able to get small gifts, ofc 😅, but basically have the option to ask where is their next step in their carrer. This may be the most crucial event in the life of every Pharmacy student, as this might be the only option where to get the opportunity to see that there are a lot of options for a future Pharmacy graduate. Often I see, that most public job fairs are more focused on business, IT and HR, although less on health management. Hopefully, our university will manage to continue with this event for future students. Today's companies: Sanovia, a.s. 'I will not attend the career fair - there are no companies in my field' Having this attitude you could risk of missing out on good opportunities. At Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark we host several career fairs through the year. Not only to promote internships and student jobs. We see it as a possibility for students (and companies as well) to broaden the perspectives and obtain information on competences, tasks, current agendas, regional labor market and not least to build a professional network for later. Here are three factors to make any career fair relevant and successful: 🚩Set yourself obtainable goals for attending the fair eg. 'I want to have one conversation with a company I don't know at all', or 'I want one new connection within the field of energy'. 🚩Be curious and openminded: Ask open questions that could help identify overlapping areas of interests, connections or possibilities. This requires you being interested before interesting. 🚩Follow up on the good conversations eg connect on Linkedin and thank the person for the talk. Being proactive and polite will bring you far. The IPSF - International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation Career Fair & Exhibition has concluded, and I'm thrilled to have had the chance to speak during the Closing Ceremony. #IPSFCFE2024 was more than just an event—it was an eye-opening experience that showcased the vast possibilities within the pharmacy field. 🌍 ✨ The diversity of speakers, coming from all corners of the globe with unique perspectives and experiences, was truly inspiring. During the Career Path Panels, I had the privilege of listening to numerous seasoned professionals share their journeys, offer invaluable career advice, and engage in insightful discussions. Overall, the IPSF Career Fair & Exhibition exposed me to a wide array of opportunities for future exploration and pursuit—opportunities I wouldn’t have known existed had I not attended this event! ✨ Here are my key takeaways: 💡 I discovered I have a strong interest in pursuing health equity and global health! 💡 Don’t fret if your career turns out to have many twists and turns. Lots of people didn’t know where they’d be in 10 years and they have fulfilling careers. 💡 Prepare for your career like you do for your exams - start working on your CV and do mock interviews early! 💡 There are so many skills you can build as a student through student organisations & projects like project management & leadership. Take every opportunity you have to build yourself. Did you spot us at The UK Careers Fair last week in Nottingham? With a busy month of HE/Careers fairs coming up, we're very much looking forward to meeting students across the country to chat to them about all that Staffordshire University has to offer. We recognise that busy HE/Careers fairs can sometimes feel overwhelming, so here are some top tips for making the most out of the events... ✏️Ahead of the event, find out who will be attending and highlight the institutions you definitely want to go and speak to ✏️When you first arrive, don't rush, take time to settle and get a feel for the event. Once you feel ready, start approaching stands to find out more about what they have to offer ✏️Remember, the people behind the stands are friendly and always happy to chat ✏️Have some pre-prepared questions and consider what is important to you (you can take a look at some examples below) ✏️Make the most of the opportunity and don't leave once you've spoken to the institutions on your list, keep an eye out for others that might interest you as you might discover the perfect university that you hadn't considered before ✏️ Don't forget to take a bag to put any prospectuses, guides and freebies in, they will help you remember who you've spoken to once you return home from the fair 5 questions to ask a university at a HE/Careers Fair: 1) Where is the university based and how many campuses do they have? 2) Do they have any Open Days or events coming up? 3) What facilities are available for the course you are looking to study? 4) Is it a city or campus university? 5) What is the accommodation like and how much does it cost? + you could also ask about finance, student life, societies and much more!

The Art of Interviewing and Counseling Future Generations Participating in the recent job fair in Mayagüez was an enriching and rewarding experience. It allowed me to reconnect with old colleagues and friends, but perhaps more importantly, it gave me the chance to engage with the new generation of professionals, many of whom are engineers, microbiologists, and biotechnologists. Beyond their technical abilities, what stood out to me most was their creativity and passion for various disciplines, qualities that will surely benefit any company lucky enough to hire them for co-ops or internships. As a senior leader, fostering, guiding, and mentoring this emerging talent has always been a priority for me, and it is precisely why I chose to be part of this event. There’s an art to interviewing, but there’s also a deeper responsibility that comes with counseling the future generation. It’s not just about assessing their skills for a particular job—it’s about understanding their vision, helping them develop professionally, and giving them the tools to thrive in their careers. When I interview candidates, especially those just beginning their professional journeys, I see it as an opportunity to shape and encourage their development. They come to us with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and as leaders, it’s our responsibility to nurture that creativity. The questions I ask aren’t just about their technical abilities but also about how they think, how they solve problems, and how they collaborate with others. These are the qualities that will make them great contributors to any team, but they’re also the skills that will serve them throughout their careers. The job fair was a reminder of how essential it is to be both a guide and a learner. While I aim to teach and share my experiences, the younger generation—engineers, microbiologists, biotechnologists, and more—has much to offer as well. Their enthusiasm, boldness, and unique approach to challenges often make me rethink old methods and consider new possibilities. In a rapidly evolving work environment, we all have something to learn from each other, regardless of where we are in our careers. In conclusion, the art of interviewing and mentoring is about more than simply identifying talent. It’s about cultivating a relationship where knowledge flows both ways, and where we invest in the growth of future leaders. I look forward to continuing to foster these connections and to seeing what the future holds for this talented generation.
