The economic imperative for health equity is too big to ignore, given that inequities in the US health system cost approximately $320 billion today and could eclipse $1 trillion in annual spending by 2040 if left unaddressed. Most importantly, we have a moral imperative to ensure all populations have equitable access to high-quality, preventive, and coordinated healthcare. Join us on December 10 for a webinar with Deborah Zimmerman, M.D. and Eric Alexander of Lumeris about how leaders in #valuebasedcare can more effectively address social determinants of health, reduce health disparities, and remove systemic barriers to support healthier communities and create a more equitable healthcare system. This 20-year follow up report reveals that while rates of uninsured have declined, we have not yet reduced health disparities in the United States. Until we recognize the multi-layered impact of community assets, politics/legislation/health policy, systems of care, healthcare provider and individual factors and accordingly implement multi-level approaches with measurable accountability across each layer as well as make visible the invisible, change will continue to move slowly.
