A hyperloop refers to a high-speed transportation concept using magnetically-levitating pods in near-vacuum tubes to enable speeds over 1000 km/h with very low energy usage. It is being proposed as an ultra-efficient mass transit system for the future.
With the majority of European vehicles switching to electric power, the pressure on our electricity grid is increasing. Together with Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE, Sono Motors, Lightyear, and TNO, we are quantitatively assessing solar electricity generation on vehicles and its impact on the future charging infrastructure in Europe.
As part of this project, IM Efficiency is installing mobile irradiance sensors on solar-powered trucks equipped with the onboard solar technology: #SolarOnTop. These sensors will measure and determine solar radiation under real conditions throughout Europe for a period of one year.
In collaboration with some of our customers, Van der Linden Groep, Vos Logistics and others, we are installing irradiance sensors in different positions: on the cabin, trailer roof, sides, etc., to measure the amount of sunlight on the vehicle from different angles.
SolarMoves: An international public-private consortium that aims to explore the potential of solar-powered vehicles to support the transition to an all-electric transport system in the EU. The project is commissioned by the Department for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) of the European Commission.

autarc (YC S24) is building the OS for Europe’s HVAC installers, enabling them to sell and design heat pumps more efficiently using LiDAR and AI. autarc cuts project planning time by 50%, helping accelerate the adoption of sustainable heating solutions.
Today, installers are overwhelmed by manual processes, spending hours on data entry, system design, and navigating regulatory paperwork. This inefficiency contributes to high labor costs and slows down the shift to renewable energy.
Founded by Etienne-Noel Krause, Thies Hansen, and Marius Seufzer, autarc empowers installers by providing them with everything they need in one platform—from data capture to system design, financing options, and subsidy management. autarcOS standardizes and automates key processes, freeing up installer capacity and allowing them to focus on what they do best: installing heat pumps.

'The Welsh Ambulance Service is delighted with the performance of the MIPV Solar PV modules. They were easy to fit, elegant and unobtrusive. #ThursdayThrowback to the remarkable 2018 project in collaboration with the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust. Three trial ambulances were initially equipped with 2 x 110 Watt modules, connected to the battery via charge controllers.
The results of the trial speak for themselves:
✅ The batteries of the ambulances were kept charged throughout the entire winter period. MIPV modules satisfied the primary requirement of keeping the battery charged.
✅ The modules can generate 181 KWH per annum, based on vehicle usage and save 181 litres of fuel per annum by reducing the load on the alternator.
✅ The other benefits include a reduction in idling times as well as a reduction in CO2 and NOX pollution by reducing the load to the engine via the alternator while also extending battery life.
Following the trial's success, 33 new non-emergency transport vehicles were fitted with MIPV solar modules.
