Advocate Bharat Kumawat highlighted the unanimous decision to prepare a Mewar Manifesto for the same. The focus is on research, public relations, and dialogue under expert guidance to address key issues. The discussions also emphasized the importance of aligning human lifestyles with nature to combat climate problems. Anant Ganesh Trivedi stressed the revival of cultural values and social heritage in Mewar, rooted in nature, environment, the Aravali mountain range, water conservation, and civic duties. That’s exactly what happened in Phagi, near Jaipur, where a visionary hotelier took on the ambitious task of transforming 500 acres of barren desert into an oasis. Using centuries-old water conservation techniques from Rajasthan, he began collecting rainwater and restoring moisture to the dry soil. Over time, he planted trees and shrubs that held the soil together, bit by bit bringing life back to the land. Great News ahead! Thuvakkam’s yet another Urban Forest soon to develop in Hyderabad. Thuvakkam and GHMC has signed an MoU in creation of an Urban Forest at a size covering 43,600 sq.ft at KSR Layout, Serilingampally in Hyderabad. The forest would be created and maintained by Thuvakkam for a period of three years. This comes in effect right after the fifth Standing Committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), chaired by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, convened on Thursday, September 12, to discuss development initiatives and approved 14 proposals. This would be Thuvakkam’s second forest in Hyderabad after the Kundikunta Lake Urban forest in Kondapur which was created at a size of 6500 sq ft, housing 1200 native tree saplings in it. Gurugram, the millennium city, is a city witnessing rapid growth (in a decade its population has almost tripled) and also rapid degradation (of natural systems and infrastructure, traffic conflicts, flash floods, water scarcity, waste accumulation, deforestation, habitat loss, air, water and noise pollution).  Not very different from the challenges so many other developing cities face. Yet, nature constantly exhibits its wonderful capacity to be restored and rejuvenated. With a little help (and a lot of design) it finds a way to thrive. The beauty of design to adapt, innovate and create is in its details, its execution, overcoming challenges big and small, and creating possibilities for many more… Its impact is much more. The 5.6km Badshahpur Forest Corridor project transformed an abandoned, polluted urban wasteland, that formed part of a historic natural water system into an active, innovative, resource-conscious, and ecologically rich and an equitable community resource for the city of Gurugram, Delhi National Capital Region, India. Today it is showcase for simple, intuitive and replicable nature-based practices for waste management and innovative reuse, habitat restoration, storm water management and people-centric spaces through comprehensive landscape design. Multi-stakeholder collaboration on this citizen-group led project (I Am Gurgaon Latika Thukral ) on government land (GMDA (Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority) Municipal Corporation of Gurugram) with corporate funding, our (landscape architects Beyond Built, Nupur Prothi) design enabled innovation, adaptation and creativity typically not possible in most public projects, through a hands-on site-specific nature-based approach. #gurugram #ecorestoration #landscapeapproach https://lnkd.in/gUZcGjYD

Workshop on Building Climate Resilient Cities: From Planning to Implementation 🌍 In an insightful technical session on implementing climate action in Indian cities, Ms. Sashi Bala, Executive Engineer of Udaipur Municipal Corporation, shared Udaipur's journey to restore its green cover. She emphasized: "To restore Udaipur’s green cover, we focused on strengthening blue-green infrastructure and started by restoring small green pockets in the city, such as community gardens and parks, with native species." Key steps taken by Udaipur: 🌱 Miyawaki-based urban forestry to enhance green cover. 🌳 Mohta Park was selected as a pilot site, where 9,500 plants were introduced, and 50% of the land was transformed into forested areas with seating spaces for the public. 🌿 Udaipur’s green cover has reduced by 45% since 1971, and with 50% of the current 22% green cover under private land, the city has focused on restoring small green spaces through community-driven efforts.
