A simple ID can change the course of a lifetime. Through Operation ID, we help individuals and families overcome barriers to employment, education, and social services. The benefits extend beyond one person—they lift up entire generations. For parents, having an ID means access to job opportunities, stable housing, and the ability to provide for their families. Main Street Ministries’ Operation ID helps adults obtain the IDs they need to create stable, thriving homes. When parents succeed, their children are set up for success, creating a ripple effect that lasts for generations. We will continue to work together to give everyone the foundation they need for a better future. #OperationID #PovertyToPossibility #GenerationalChange #MainStreetMinistries

Day 12: Happy Social Work Month! Theme: Social Work Careers A library social worker is a professional who provides social services and support within the library setting. They address the needs of library patrons who may be experiencing homelessness, poverty, mental health issues, substance abuse, or other challenges that can hinder their ability to access and use library resources effectively. Library social workers offer direct support through counseling, referral services to local resources and assistance programs, crisis intervention, and sometimes programming aimed at social and life skills development. Their role may also involve advocating for policies that support the library’s role in serving vulnerable populations, training library staff on how to interact compassionately and effectively with patrons in need, and helping to create an inclusive environment that welcomes all members of the community. This position reflects an evolving understanding of libraries not just as places for books and learning, but as vital community centers that can play a role in addressing broader social issues. ❓Are you a library Social Work? How do Neighbourhood Centres respond to family well-being and community safety issues? Current levels of crime in Queensland are symptoms of deeper issues in families and communities. Neighbourhood Centres offer family support programs for parents and their children experiencing acute stress. They also provide programs such as parenting courses and playgroups to foster healthy child development and create stable family units. Youth programs, including workplace skills development for at-risk young people, are also a feature of many Neighbourhood Centres. Support is also offered to victims of crime in communities. Centres also provide activities in communities that build social connection and cohesion which mitigate crime and identified local problems. Their community development approach means they can co-design local responses to build safer communities. While each Neighbourhood Centre is different, impact reporting demonstrates: In 2023, Centres delivered 115 community development projects that improve safety for the community or a cohort within the community. 48% offer social connection activities to young people aged 13-25years 48% offer Playgroups 43% offer Counselling and Psychology 41% off Self-help Groups 31% offer Family Violence services 27% run Family Support Programs (CYJMA funded) 25% design programs with young people aged 13-25 13% offer vocational education and training 2024 Queensland Election Policy Platform https://lnkd.in/gZaSTgph #NeighbourhoodCentres #NeighbourhoodCentresQueensland #QueenslandElection2024 #youthcrime #voiceforvictims Steven Miles Leeanne Enoch David Crisafulli MP John-Paul Langbroek Mark Ryan Di Farmer Dan Purdie Laura Gerber MP James Ashby Robbie Katter Michael Berkman
