🌟"Do You Know the Difference Between tātou and mātou?🌟 Kia ora e hoa mā!  This week, we're focusing on tātou (we, including the listener) and mātou (we, excluding the listener). These pronouns are vital for group expressions and conversations. Here are some tips to help you practice: 🔤 Group conversations: Use tātou and mātou in conversations involving multiple people. For example, "Kei te haere tātou ki te wharekai" (We are going to the restaurant, including you).  "Kei te haere mātou ki te wharekai" (We are going to the restaurant, excluding you). 🔤 Include everyone: Tātou is inclusive, while mātou is exclusive. Practice using these pronouns to reflect inclusivity and exclusivity in your sentences. 🔤 Practice regularly: Regular practice will help you become comfortable with these distinctions. Create sentences and use them in daily conversations. 🙌 Happy start of Ramadan! The month of Ramadan is a special time of reflection, prayer, kindness, and consideration for others. As the month also means daylight fasting and serves as a very important cultural time, there are some points to keep in mind that I shared last year and will share again. 4 inclusive tips for Ramadan. 🌜 Plan with kindness: Be mindful and flexible in planning daily breaks as some co-workers will be fasting during daylight. 🌜 Be inclusive in execution: If you are celebrating a success, Easter, or for a different reason have cake or candy available at work during this time – choose an easy-to-save-for-later solution. (etc. candy bags over a bowl) 🌜 Engage to build belonging: Talk to your co-workers and colleagues – ask what matters to them during this time and see how we can accommodate them. Not saying anything does not include. Just like we say Merry Christmas it is quite appropriate to wish a colleague a Blessed Ramadan, Happy Ramadan, Ramadan Mubarak, Eid Mubarak (Mubarak means merry), or in Danish God Ramadan or Glædelig Eid. 🌜 Build inclusion from knowledge: Fasting is a spiritual process and a choice. Do not feel sorry or express pity. Fasting is a process of great pride for Muslims. It covers all foods but also all drinks, which is a common misconception. Keep in mind – that not all Muslims engage in fasting and some do it on their terms. Recognizing others for what matters to them creates a culture of understanding and belonging. As we celebrate Raya, it's a time to reflect on the importance of community. Businesses play a vital role, providing essential products and services, creating jobs, and fostering a sense of convenience. During Raya, these values come alive as businesses ensure families have access to festive supplies and contribute to the overall merriment. While recent events have sparked discussions about certain businesses, it's important to remember the positive impact they can have. Take KK Mart, for example. I may not know the founder, but for years, they've been a pillar in our communities, providing convenient access to groceries and household essentials, especially crucial during festive seasons. More importantly, businesses like KK Mart create job opportunities for many Malaysians. These jobs put food on tables, books in children's hands, and roofs over heads. It's important to have open discussions and address concerns. During this season of reflection, let's cultivate gratefulness not just for grand gestures, but for the everyday contributions that make our lives better. Puasa Enam (six-day fast) I believe many people have returned home and begun working, and their children have begun attending school as of today, Monday, 15 April. I believe many individuals are only starting to observe the six-day optional fast today, for which the reward is like fasting for a year after completing the obligatory fast for the entire month of Ramadan. This is an incredibly fantastic reward. The six-day fast may be challenging for some people to observe because many will be celebrating Hari Raya (Eid) with coworkers at lunch break. Invitations may come from several units within the same organisation. The Raya festivities will last till the end of the month of Syawal since several businesses and non-business organisations will hold open houses, which is a fantastic idea in any case. Weekends can be packed with events, such as attending open houses, wedding receptions, and visiting relatives and friends. I believe that in order to begin and finish the six days of fasting during the month of Shawwal, careful planning is necessary. Non-Tolerant Society, What Will Became of It? To become a civilized member of society means to abide by the rules set by the government and society. To have an honor, values and ethical standards. To live in harmony among diverse race, religion and ethnic especially when you live in Indonesia with it's people having a various racial backgrounds and faiths. However is it truly attainable? Now I am here to tell you about an outrage. Caused by a certain culinary festivity in Solo Paragon Mall. How did such a recreation activity be the cause of a dispute? It is all started by DSKS or Dewan Syariah Kota Surakarta who filed a complaint to the local government and city sub-regional police Surakarta. According to them, this non halal culinary festivity caused the public to be restless as it was promoted in a large scale. It was known that majority of Indonesia are Islam by religion. But why should the festivity be a problem? It was publicly promoted as non-halal with Festival Kuliner Pecinaan Nusantara as the title in a big billboard. No Muslim person could possibly mistaken it as Muslim-friendly. It should be noted that similar activities was held around the country and there was zero problem around it.
