💎 Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) is a type of amorphous carbon coating that combines sp2 (graphite-like) and sp3 (diamond-like) bonding structures. This unique combination results in a coating with low friction and high hardness. 🥚 However, when a hard coating like DLC is applied to a softer substrate, it can lead to a phenomenon known as the "egg-shell effect," where the coating cracks and flakes off. ⚛ To mitigate this risk, our IonCoat+ duplex technology involves a two-step process. First, the workpiece undergoes plasma nitriding, which creates a strong, supportive layer beneath the DLC coating. The new setup we reviewed and tested involves coating copper particles onto the surface of ABS polymer using the cold gas spray (CGS) coating method. In this setup, the particles are first heated to 120 degrees Celsius by the sandblasting device and then are propelled at the target surface under pressure. The effects of variables such as temperature, pressure, and the distance from the nozzle to the surface of the piece are examined in this experiment. This type of coating method is entirely innovative and novel, and with satisfactory results, it can be improved and expanded. #coating #corrosion #material_science
