💎 Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) is a type of amorphous carbon coating that combines sp2 (graphite-like) and sp3 (diamond-like) bonding structures. This unique combination results in a coating with low friction and high hardness. 🥚 However, when a hard coating like DLC is applied to a softer substrate, it can lead to a phenomenon known as the "egg-shell effect," where the coating cracks and flakes off. ⚛ To mitigate this risk, our IonCoat+ duplex technology involves a two-step process. First, the workpiece undergoes plasma nitriding, which creates a strong, supportive layer beneath the DLC coating.
