The synergy created when shipyards, tech providers, and maritime consultants unite their diverse expertise leads to solutions that surpass what any single entity could achieve independently. We have witnessed this phenomenon firsthand across numerous projects. Time and again, the combined efforts of various stakeholders have sparked innovations and breakthroughs that seemed unattainable at the outset. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of collaborative problem-solving, especially when tackling the complex challenges of maritime sustainability. We curious about your collaborative experiences. Who are your go-to partners for driving innovation in this space? Let's start a conversation about how we might work together to push the boundaries of sustainable maritime practices. A milestone for Sustainability in Logistic in Mars. This week we hold the very first session of our SIG4Log Community of Experts, supporting the Mars Sustainable in a Generation Program in Logistic. Taking the learning from our Sig4Ops program that is running for almost a decade and has enabled us to decrease over time our Factories Carbon footprint through efficiency and renewable energy, Building on the great work done across Mars, the Team have explored a number of show cases with internal and external stimulation and develop a strategy to lead to our Net zero roadmap 2040 in Logistic and -50% milestone reduction in 2030, and adopted a dual top down and bottom-up approach by : 1- Developing a Data and Analytics system that enables us to track, publish reports, and simulate scenarii 2- Compile a playbook of knowledge and strategies to deploy in every country, to equip and empower Business Units to take full ownership of their roadmap 3- Drive scale inter-company projects through strategic alliances with key players in our Value Chain. I am excited and thankful to support this great group and all the Mars Supply Chain community that drives this agenda with energy, passion and dedication ! 🚀 Exciting Insights from the Mariparks Workshop! 🌊⚓ Earlier this week, I had the privilege of attending the Mariparks: Derisking Entrepreneurship and the Sustainable Blue Economy workshop, hosted by De Blauwe Cluster (Blue Cluster) vzw and Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development as part of the #MissionArena3 initiative by Blue Mission Banos Project. 🐟💡 💡 One of the standout moments for me was learning about the Octopus Project 🐙—a groundbreaking, modular, and future-proof fishing vessel designed for multi-use functionality. This innovative concept, developed by Padmos Shipyard redefines what a fishing vessel can be, combining sustainability, adaptability, and cutting-edge technology. 🌍⚙️ 📦 Key Features of the Octopus Vessel: ✅ Modular Design: Switch between fishing, aquaculture, or offshore services depending on the season. 🛠️ ✅ Sustainable Propulsion: Diesel-electric engines with the potential to transition to hydrogen or battery power in the future. 🔋💨 ✅ Efficiency Boost: Simplified product handling with containers for frozen or chilled fish, saving time and effort. ❄️🐟 This project represents a game-changer for the #BlueEconomy, offering a practical solution to foster innovation, streamline licensing, and tackle climate and biodiversity challenges. 🌿💼 👏 Big thanks to all the organizers from SUBMARINER Network for Blue Growth EEIG Marjoleine Nascimento da Silva -Karper Kinnie De Beule Marijn Rabaut, speakers, and participants for creating such a collaborative and forward-thinking space. It’s exciting to see projects like the Octopus paving the way for a sustainable future in ocean multi-use. Let’s keep the momentum going! 🌊💪 #SustainableBlueEconomy #OceanMultiUse #MaritimeInnovation #FishingForTheFuture #Sustainability 🌍⚓

Great to see #circularity is becoming part of the #sustainablemaritimefuture dialogue between shipowners, financiers and stakeholders at the Mare Forum! The way we deal with (scarce) raw materials is not only essential for a #futureproof maritime sector from an autonomy point of view, it is also the way to increase our European competitiveness. Curious how? Check out our joint exploration with BlueCity (010) on Circular Opportunities for Maritime. At the Mare Forum we only scratched the surface as far as circularity goes, yet it became clear that for true #circular steps and a #sustainablemaritimefuture we need new business models, new ways of financing and especially close collaboration with both value chain partners as well as stakeholders. Looking forward to continuing the discussion! 🚀 Annet Koster Ann-Christin Stucke Dewi Wesselman Katalin Dobránszky-Bartus, PhD Marina Tzoutzouraki Renze Boersema KVNR | Royal Association of Netherlands Shipowners NMT | Netherlands Maritime Technology SEA Europe CirclesOfLife Nederland Maritiem Land Maritime Sisters Sylvia Boer Sabine Biesheuvel #bluesisters
