As the usage of telehealthcare increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, so did the burden on primary care providers in their use of electronic health records (EHR), with upticks in documentation and chart review minutes, according to a new AHRQ-funded study in JAMA Network Open. In their analysis of 316 providers at MedStar Health, researchers uncovered significant variations in times devoted to EHRs based on levels of #telehealth integration. Providers averaged 71.3 minutes of documentation time on zero-telemedicine days and 87.2 minutes on days with up to 10 percent telemedicine. Researchers concluded that on days with both in-person and telemedicine visits, providers were subject to 5 to 7 percent more EHR-based work. Access the article. https://lnkd.in/eheZFjaJ

The preventive and virtual care models in operation today are broken. The preventive care screening market is dominated by brick-and-mortar labs, counterintuitive to today’s consumer trends. Today’s virtual care models expect a replacement of the in-person experience usually for urgent care needs, with a provider the patient doesn’t know, who likely does not have access to the patient’s whole health history. For us at Reperio Health, the only solution and way to prepare for the future needs of our growing population and shrinking provider networks is to reach people where they are and provide healthcare where and when they need it, not where they’re told to go get it. I had the opportunity to sit down with Saul Marquez and Outcomes Rocket at HLTH and share how Reperio brings preventive care and a reborn model of virtual care into the comfort of your home with our at-home health screening kits and AI-assisted virtual visit platform. How can we all move away from our current “sick system”? We start with easy-to-access testing and use that information along with existing medical records data in an AI-assisted journey to meet patients exactly where they are: at home, at any time. You can listen to our full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/gM_-W3i4
