🌍 Biogas Gains Momentum in Hungary’s Energy Strategy Hungary’s National Energy and Climate Plan places a greater emphasis on biogas to strengthen energy independence and sustainability. Several factors are aligning to boost the sector’s growth in the near future, including the development of a national biogas strategy and an upcoming grant designed to support the industry. Anaergia, which has already built several biogas plants in Hungary—including the country’s largest 4 MW capacity facility in Szarvas—stands ready to contribute further. With Marny Investissement’s recent acquisition and its deep local expertise through Alfa Group, the foundation is set for significant advancements in Hungary’s biogas sector. The path toward energy independence is becoming clearer, and biogas will play a pivotal role. #Sustainability #Biogas #EnergyIndependence #MarnyInvestissement #Anaergia #Hungary #GreenEnergy #FutureEnergy

Could this be the solution Europe has been searching for in its energy transition? ♻️♻️ Europe has been making significant strides in biogas production as part of its renewable energy goals. In 2023, the biogas industry in the EU generated around 18 billion cubic meters of biogas, covering 4.6% of the region's total gas demand. With continued investments, this share is expected to reach 10% by 2030, according to industry forecasts. Germany remains the largest producer, contributing to nearly 50% of Europe’s biogas output, while France and Italy have increased their capacities by 15% and 12%, respectively, over the past year. The European Biogas Association (EBA) also reported that the biogas sector could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 10% by 2030. Biogas isn’t just about energy – it’s a sustainable solution for waste management and contributes to the EU's goal of achieving a 55% reduction in emissions by 2030. How do you see biogas shaping the future of clean energy in Europe? #Biogas #RenewableEnergy #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #CircularEconomy

Discover the Power of Transparency for the Energy Transition with Guarantees of Origin! 🌱 At EEX, we are convinced that traceability and transparency are key to accelerating the transition to renewable energy. That's why we're excited to highlight EEX’s registry activities for Guarantees of Origin (GOs), designed to make the use of renewable energy more transparent and traceable. Registries for GOs are standardised systems that allow end consumers to know the exact source of their energy. In 2023, EEX was selected to provide registry services for biogas certificates in France on behalf of the French Ministry in charge of energy issues. Find out more in our latest annual report on biogas GOs: 📈 Volume of French biogas GOs issued in 2023: 7,907,571 GOs (+18% in comparison to 2022) 🌟 Almost all (95%) biogas installations were registered on the French registry end of 2023 📊 >50% of GOs were used in the heating sector (residential sector and process heat for the industry) 📝 Past and upcoming regulatory developments Join us in supporting the energy transition and discover the value of transparency in renewable energy sourcing. Since August of 2021, a Bright biogas upgrader installed in South Dakota has been reliably converting biogas into RNG. The system has produced more than 200 million BTUs of methane, contributing to South Dakota’s climate goals by providing a sustainable alternative to conventional natural gas. This project also has the capacity to capture significant amounts of CO2, which could then be liquefied and sold for various industrial applications. Adding CO2 liquefaction technology to an RNG production plan maximizes the facility's value by creating additional revenue, improving the CI score, and increasing sustainability. Did you know that Leo Group also produces renewable energy? Biopower Oostende, a subsidiary of Leo Group, is our European renewable energy company located in Belgium specialising in #biomass Operating cutting-edge biofuel power stations and storage facilities in Ostend, Mouscron, and Bruges, Biopower has been a pioneer in innovative #RenewableEnergy installations using waste materials since its beginnings. Unlike wind and solar energy, biomass energy offers stable and continuous production. Through this operation, the Group is now able to take animal by-products and fallen stock and convert them into electricity, controlling the entire supply chain. Our Biopower refinery in Oostende transforms animal by-products like tallow and oils into renewable energy. Through refining, these by-products are turned into #biofuel used for green electricity or second-generation biodiesel. With a processing capacity of 60,000 tonnes per year, Biopower generates 55MW from its three sites, providing electricity for 120,000 households annually.
