I had the pleasure to attend Eurocontrol ASM/STRAT course on October 22-24. Air passengers in Europe have suffered increasing delays and disruptions flights resulting from inefficiencies in the ATM system. Traffic delay almost doubled in Europe in 2018. Traffic delay was quite high last summer. High costs for air traffic pushes key ANSPs to modernize and reform ATM to deal with these issues. Achieving airspace change for more capacity and more efficient routes to reduce fuel burn and also increase safety were some of the key subjects. Airspace and traffic management have a key role. We reviewed the innovations to improve ATM performance, to create new effective routes, to organize ATC capacity correctly and to increase safety while speeding up traffic flow and reducing delays by creating the necessary legislation. It was a productive and enjoyable process for me.\\European Airspace Strategy [ASM-STRAT], Luxembourg.

This session will focus on the ATM ecosystem that is intricately interconnected, where the performance of the entire system relies on its weakest link. With some ANSPs advancing swiftly in technology, others might find themselves trailing. 🔵 On 5 December 2024, the A6 Alliance Steering Board held its fourth and final meeting of the year, bringing together the leadership of key ANSPs to mark significant milestones on strategic priorities for the future of Air Traffic Management in Europe ✈🌏. ✅ The Board discussed strategic areas of Aviation in Europe, reviewed the latest progress on the European ATM Master Plan, and outlined the next steps for the #SESAR Research and Deployment activities. Emphasis was placed on the importance of the partnership model for the successful realization of the Digital European Sky. 🟢 The meeting was enriched by insights from invited high level representatives from SESAR Joint Undertaking and leading manufacturers from Indra, Thales, Leonardo, and iTEC SkyNex on strategic steps following the signing of the Joint Statement in June 2024 on the transition to a new service delivery model for ATM in Europe 🤝. Both ANSPs and manufacturers reaffirmed their commitment to delivering the objectives of the Joint Statement, leading to modernization and digitalization of the European airspace and air traffic management system and to provide further resilience, scalability and flexibility of the European ATM ✈. In ICAO's 80th anniversary year, we celebrate a key joint aviation ✈️ milestone: the 10th edition of the #ASBU Implementation Monitoring Report. 📊 👉 Over the years, the Aviation System Block Upgrades (#ASBU) report has become an essential tool for tracking & analysing the implementation of ICAO's Global Air Navigation Plan (#GANP) within the EUR Region, as Mariya Koleva, EUROCONTROL Head of Planning & Support, underlines. They work tirelessly to navigate, monitor, and guide aircraft worldwide, ensuring the safety of millions of passengers every day. October 20, 2024, also marks the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers (IFATCA). This year, IFATCA's theme is "Invest in People: The Future of ATM," highlighting the importance of investing in the workforce that ensures the efficiency and safety of air traffic management. #aviation #airtrafficcontroller #aviationsafety

Collaboration with our Member States is crucial when it comes to collecting #routecharges from airspace users ✈️, one of our key services to European #aviation - and innovating in this area via the "CRCO 2.0" roadmap is a central part of our corporate programme #RaisingTheBar #EUROCONTROL2030. We just welcomed the representatives of the national Route Charges Offices of our Member States at our HQ for the 19th Route Charges Office (RCO) Working Group, to give them an overview on the latest improvements to our services and tools, and to exchange on best practices & future collaboration. 👉 The group is a central pillar of our work supporting Member States & the aviation sector by collecting #routecharges which cover the cost of #ATC air traffic control for every flight ✈️ in the European air traffic network. The charges are also the main source of liquidity for #ANSPs air navigation service providers across Europe. The meeting saw excellent exchanges inter alia on: 📄 Simplified reporting on diverted flights ✔ Completeness of the monthly transmissions of flight messages 🔧 Centralised Flight Analyser (CFA) tool 💻 #ETNA & #CEFA system improvements (digital portals for States, ANSPs and airspace users) ✈ iOAT flight plan progress. We also managed to arrange a visit to our new EUROCONTROL #NMOC Network Manager Operations Centre, the core of our air traffic management network operations. #EUROCONTROL #CRCO #collaboration
