We are excited to announce that our latest research, "BEATLE—Self-Reconfigurable Aerial Robot: Design, Control, and Experimental Validation," has been accepted for publication in the IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (TMECH)! In this work, we present a novel flight control framework based on contact wrench control to achieve stable multi-connected flight. I am delighted to share that our latest work about self-assembly aerial modular robots has been published in IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (T-MECH) 🎉 This is the first time to use a tiltable quadrotor as the basis of the modular structure, which can effectively solve the internal wrench problem due to the inflight concatenation. Europe's first operational Hyperloop test facility has set a new record by simulating an 88-mile journey at a blistering speed of 303.4 mph. The test, conducted by researchers from EPFL, HEIG-VD, and Swisspod Technologies, is part of the LIMITLESS project. The team successfully completed an 11.8 km (7.3-mile) track, scaled to represent a full-scale hyperloop journey, in a low-pressure environment. This innovative testing, using a 40 cm diameter circular loop track, demonstrated the feasibility of hyperloop technology for fast and sustainable transportation. The experiment underscores the potential for a high-speed, eco-friendly transport system that can revolutionize intracontinental travel. 📣 Meet the Partners: Spotlight on Vicomtech! Vicomtech is a research center located in northern Spain, focused on applying of computer graphics, computer vision and machine learning technologies to real-world problems. In AutoMoTIF project, Vicomtech will lead the use case of Automation of Port Operations at the Port of Bilbao, together with Bilbao PortLab and the company Consignaciones Toro y Betolaza. Specifically, in this project, Vicomtech will implement a Digital Twin that will allow, on the one hand, the creation of a digital replica of current port operations and, on the other hand, the simulation of a future automated scenario. This will make it possible to evaluate the improvements that automation can bring to the maritime-port and logistics services offered by the shipping company. Hey Connections! A crucial part of any software development life cycle or end product is the design and planning of the project. The #IGVC AutoNav Design Competition provides a platform for participants to showcase their team organization, innovative solutions, and overall execution in creating their UGV. Attached below is the winning Design Report for IGVC 2024, presented by my team at Project MANAS . Our team received a whopping 2000 USD for securing the first place. The Design Competition consisted of three rounds: the initial paper submission, a second round featuring a 10-minute presentation and questionnaire, and a final round with a 15-minute presentation and Judges Panel discussion. Our design focused heavily on versatility, robustness, and adaptability to all environments, ensuring a well-defined approach for real-world applications.
