🚨 New legislation in Texas is taking aim at sexual wellness products in stores like Walmart and Target. The reasoning? To "protect children." But let’s be real for a second: if a 4-year-old sees a vibrator on a shelf, they’re not clutching their pearls and writing an op-ed. They probably don’t even notice it. And if they do, it’s an object. Kids aren’t assigning meaning to things unless we tell them to. This debate isn’t about kids. It’s about adults. Adults who are uncomfortable talking about sex. Adults who confuse sexual wellness tools with something inappropriate, when in reality, they’re just that: tools for wellness. 🔫 Let’s not forget that many of these same retailers still sell guns. Guns 🔫 ! I’d argue that’s far more “concerning” for a child to stumble across in a store. 🔫 Instead of censoring vibrators, let’s focus on what actually protects kids: ✔ Teaching bodily autonomy and consent. ✔ Talking about how sex is a natural adult activity—one that should be safe, consensual, and yes, pleasurable. ✔ Normalizing conversations about sexual health so we raise empowered, informed, and confident humans. Sex isn’t dirty. Pleasure isn’t shameful. But you know what is? Allowing stigma to dictate public policy. Shielding children from human desire is not only impossible but will ultimately cause them harm. (Research shows comprehensive sex ed leads to a myriad of positive health outcomes.) If you want to protect the children get rid of the guns and give them comprehensive sex education! We at Dame are passionate about removing the shame around sexual health. Let’s prioritize progress, not discomfort. #SexualWellness #PublicPolicy #WellnessNotWeapons #PleasureIsHealth #NormalizeIt #SexEd #BodilyAutonomy #ConsentMatters

When did sexuality become about “fitting in”? . . In a world that's increasingly hypersexual, we've somehow reduced sexuality to a regular meet-up of male and female genitals, forgetting that it’s really about so much more—self-discovery, personal choice, and control over one’s body and desires. Chastity has been driven to the back bench and not considered an essential part of sex education when in reality — it is the most effective way to protect against outcomes such as STDs, unplanned pregnancy and such . In today’s fast-paced, highly sexualized culture, chastity has become somewhat of a forgotten option. It’s almost as if the choice to wait or to abstain is no longer celebrated, and instead, young people are being ostracized for not conforming to society’s pressure to have sex at an early age. We now live in a world where boys and girls are encouraged to engage sexually before they even have a chance to fully understand who they are. They are out there seeking attention and validation, sometimes without fully understanding what they're stepping into. The power of CHOICE, which should be at the center of sexual freedom, is quietly slipping away. The narrative has shifted—choosing to wait is seen as “uncool” or “old-fashioned,” while being physically intimate early is normalized, many times even glamorized. But here's the truth: Your sexuality is yours to define….the key is that the decision should always be yours—not a product of peer pressure or societal expectations. 📌It's time we shift the conversation. Empowering young people to make informed choices about their sexuality is key—whether that choice involves chastity or anything in between. They need to know that they have the power to decide how and when to express their sexual side. Dear friends; How do we better equip young people to make informed decisions about their sexuality? What are your thoughts 💭 #choice #sexEducate #chastity #20daylinkedinchallengewithhaoma

Here's your first head's up about a deeply valuable upcoming workshop! All too often we support clients who struggle to connect with their bodies’ cues about what feels good and what does not when engaging sexually. Simple yes-no consent practices don’t adequately navigate the nuances of the real world, and helping our clients find their ‘yes’ so that they can enjoy the sexual and sensual sides of themselves can be challenging, especially for those who have experienced trauma. As therapists, we can sometimes feel at a loss when it comes to exploring nuanced consent with our clients when we don’t have the tools to explore the topic in a meaningful and trauma-informed way. Join Alice Curitz (she/her), RCC CCC and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, for a 3-hour online training exploring somatic approaches to consent. Through a balanced variety of didactic and experiential learning opportunities focusing on best-practices in sex therapy, you’ll engage with a deeper and more nuanced framework for consent as well as learning new tools, strategies, and exercises to implement with your clients in sessions. No prior sex therapy training is required, and this workshop implements an anti-oppressive, feminist, disability justice, sex-positive lens that ensures you can confidently and competently use what you learn with clients of all genders, backgrounds, cultures, identities, and experiences. We take the awkward out of sex education to test just how much bros know about the female reproductive system. In our latest episode, we hit the streets to assess their basic knowledge, beliefs, and attitudes about the menstrual cycle and partnered with Clue—one of the best (and safest) menstrual tracking apps—to help normalize the conversation. Upon launch, the episode quickly went viral on Instagram and TikTok, showing that most people are eager to learn about and discuss a normal and healthy part of life that affects nearly half of the world's population. We make it our mission to partner with brands who share similar values. If you are one or know one who may want to collaborate, hit us up, and let’s chat. Or, tag a bro and put ‘em in the know! 😉 Follow us for misplaced machismo and more ⤵ TikTok: https://lnkd.in/edduXMX6 Instagram: https://lnkd.in/eQ6BFF7w

As we continue to work towards a more sex-positive, stigma-free environment for young people, it’s essential that we understand the attitudes and habits that shape their sexual health behaviours. Brook's latest EASY report reveals some startling statistics about young people’s attitudes and habits on condom use and STIs. From the surprising reasons why, young people may not be using condoms, to the alarming rates of STI transmissions among young adults, these stats are a wake-up call for all of us. Take a look at these stats 👇 But here’s the thing: These stats aren’t just statistics – they’re real people, with real lives, who are making choices about their sexual health every day! - So, what can we do to change the game? 1️⃣ Let’s educate ourselves and others about the importance of sexual health and wellbeing. 2️⃣ Create a culture of openness and consent, where young people feel empowered to make informed choices about their sexual health. 3️⃣ Provide access to comprehensive sex education and healthcare services, so that young people can get the information and resources they need to thrive. Follow us and look out for our upcoming posts on further stats around sexual health and young people! Let's work together to make a difference! 🤝 #SexualHealth #YouthEmpowerment #SexEdMatters #Pasante #Condoms #SaferSex #SexualWellness #YoungPeople #RegencyRomance #SexEdForAll #SexEducation #LetsTalkAboutSex #SexualHealthStats
