Building a X-ray and neutron generation experiment from scratch is not in most undergraduates' curriculum. But for Alexandra Koleva and Aliyah St Louis-Alleyne, it was all part of their experience as interns at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory through the Reaching a New Science Energy Workforce (RENEW) program. What obstacles have we put in place to prevent our children from reaching the stars? What can we do to remove the barriers in front of those seeking to excel? Let’s give our future scientists every opportunity to learn and discover and accelerate their scientific achievements.
