🇪🇺The European Gas Transmission System Operators (TSOs) of Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany’s ONTRAS are starting the feasibility phase for the Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor (NBHC). These studies will focus on various crucial aspects including pipeline routing, compressor stations planning, financial and economic analysis, environmental and safety permitting issues as well as investigations on an implementation timeline. These studies are expected to run until mid-2026. In addition to these studies the involved TSOs aim to complete several cross-border analyses to further substantiate the NBHC planning on an overall project level based on the outcomes from the aforementioned studies. Uldis Bariss, Chairman of the Board of Conexus, emphasizes that the Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor project demonstrates not only Latvia's interest in regional integration and capacity to implement cross-border projects, but also its ability to increase the diversification of energy sources in practice.

Our Energy expert Hermano Pereira de Oliveira will be a speaker at the European Liquid Gas Congress (ELGC) on June 18-20th in Lyon. Hermano will present on Panel "Financing Energy Transition”, the session will address the key challenge of financing a just Energy Transition in rural EU regions lacking grid access. While individual consumers need support for home renovation and cleaner transport, businesses also need incentives to provide renewable solutions for these areas. In late October, Augstsprieguma tīkls AS welcomed Elering and Litgrid Remit experts to Riga for a joint initiative with NordPool to reinforce and advance the Baltic balancing market surveillance framework. The Baltic TSOs are committed to maintaining a high level of knowledge about Remit and to ensuring that electricity market participants are aware of Remit issues. To this end, the Baltic TSOs are extending an invitation to participants in the Baltic balancing market to attend an online seminar on balancing market surveillance on 13 November. The Baltic balancing markets comprise the mFRR energy reserve market via the MARI platform, the aFRR energy reserve market via the PICASSO platform and the FCT, mFRR and aFRR capacity reserve markets via the Baltic Capacity Market. Have a read of our brand new Summer Supply Outlook 2024 for natural gas! We looked into different shades of stress on the supply and demand side. For the first time we also considered Ukrainian storage options. As the U.S. aims to reshore manufacturing, it’s critical America embraces a pragmatic energy policy that includes natural gas, which currently plays a major role in electricity generation and in the industrial sector. Today, I was at the #ChooseFrance Summit to promote the French electricity grid with three messages: 1️⃣ The energy transition from oil and gas to electricity consumption is a major global challenge => huge investments. But the French electricity grid is already strong, well-meshed, and reliable.  So, despite the necessary investments, the grid development will be more manageable in France than in our neighboring countries, with less works, fewer outages, and fewer risks for system operations. 2️⃣ RTE’s services are recognized for four main reasons ➜ RTE provides one of the European best quality of electricity and security of supply ➜ RTE is committed to meeting connection timeline in a cost-effective manner. ➜ The upfront connection cost is optimized for new consumers ➜ The grid offers discounted rates for heavy consumers and market mechanisms to value industry flexibility. 3️⃣ By the end of the year, we will publish a plan for grid development, called "Roadmap 2040" to increase visibility for suppliers and future customers. ➜ A visibility to be able to implement a strong supply chain in France and Europe ➜ A visibility to ensure future industries that they will be connected on time to a clean and high-quality power grid.
