Change your comp plan, pay period, policy on who owns a customer, etc at your own risk. Probably doesn’t surprise you, but at least 1 of these scenarios is in play in over half the agents I have signed. W2 companies that are not changing policies to hurt employees in this market, are going to be rewarded IMO. The ones that are make my job much easier, getting 10-15 percent as a ctg w2 rep being tied to the office and wondering what policy is going to change next is not appealing to top reps, when you could get 70+ percent of profit and work from home. Just had a call this morning with a rep who has been at his same brokerage since graduating college 5+ years, and he is getting sick of the changes. Happy Monday! #sales #logistics #trucking #brokerage
great insights Matt Dahl stability in compensation and policies is crucial for retaining top talent in our industry. W2 companies that prioritize their employees' well-being and provide consistent support will undoubtedly attract and keep the best reps💯
Go more “pro Matt” and less “con W2” and you’re on the right path. Gotta mix it up my friend :) (Had to say it because you know me and I know you all to well! 😂)
As a W2 employee and going on 10 years with Midlink. No issues here, great company to work for
This is the theme of every call I take from a w2. The issues are real!
Great insights. Kudos to companies that prioritize their employees’ well-being—your approach will definitely pay off. Thanks for highlighting this important issue Matt Dahl 🙌
Constant changes to processes, comp plans, etc is bad news and a big giant red flag 🚩 Key word constant though. Not saying businesses shouldn’t make changes when necessary.
We are seeing the same thing here Matt Dahl. Have a meeting at 3pm with very experienced person who has recently had the rug pulled out. With the tough market companies are making short sighted decisions on comp that will drive away great talent.

5moI personally had this happen as W2. Completely destroyed my motivation to sell. I finally got to a good point and all of a sudden they changed the commission structure which lowered my income by about 20-30k for the year unless I brought on new clients. I get the idea to encourage established reps to hunt for more new business, but lowering our income was definitely not the way to go about it. Let's just say I left that place very quickly after the news and took my clients with me.
