Another practical communications tip: When possible, simplify your messaging. Think about what your audience really wants to and needs to know. Learn which channel/s they go to for the kind of message you’re looking to deliver. Write it down. Type it up. Workshop it. Ask for input. Draw a picture. Edit. Edit. Edit. Test. Edit. (Repeat testing and editing.) Communicate your message in a way where no one would notice all the behind-the-scenes work that went into it.

Here’s how I turn weak messaging into high-converting copy: → Start with clarity. ↳ Confused readers don’t buy. → Focus on benefits. ↳ Features tell, benefits sell. → Use simple language. ↳ No one loves jargon. → Add social proof. ↳ People trust what others trust. → End with a clear call. ↳ Tell them what to do next. The result? → Messages that move people to act. Weak copy gets ignored. Strong copy connects. The difference? Understanding what your audience needs. And writing to that. That’s how conversion happens.

Everything has a disadvantage. Reading every single day is no exception to that rule. But in this case, the disadvantage can become a double advantage if used effectively. I'm quickly realizing this as the day goes by. One outcome of doing my best to read 10–15 pages every morning is that I get to scribble down too many ideas. Some of these ideas, I've found, are better communicated when visualized. This is something I've always struggled with. I'm a writing-first person. My notes –both digital and physical– are filled with written and sketched ideas. And the volume increases as I add to them after my daily morning reading routine. But often, conveying those scribbled-down ideas in written content doesn't do the trick. To this end, I've spent the past couple of weeks, polishing my video editing skills. Published the first one today: https://lnkd.in/d2GzFpJE The short video discusses a quadrant I scribbled down for tracking earned mindshare. I start by summarizing what it is and why it is important. Then I use an example to demonstrate how the quadrant is helpful. If you have a few seconds, would love your thoughts.

❓“My biggest challenge is trying to get content approved. People are always changing the language, adding on lots of extra text, rewriting things to make them more complicated or adding in jargon etc. It makes my job so hard because when they make changes the content is often ruined. Any advice?” Sound painfully familiar to anyone else? This is the question I tackle in tomorrow's edition of my email newsletter. I give practical, actionable advice on how to take control of your content and make the approval process easier and faster. Want to read it? Involve your experts in content...but NOT like this: "Can you review this brief?" "Can you review this draft?" No no no. It's too late at this point. You don't just want a stamp of approval. You want help conceptualizing the idea before it's even executed. Involve your teammates FIRST so that you uncover: A new angle A unique POV A better argument Involvement is most powerful in the early stages. Love how Gail Marie put in her interview for The Content Gap report:
